Search texting - SMS

Used to be able to search using texting with cell phone typing - SMS, but cannot get it to work with version 1.5.0. Pls help

Could you please add some details what kind of remote you are trying to use?? What do you mean by Seach testing SMS??

Thanks, I am referring to the Virtual Keyboard. In Boxee 0.9.22 you could type on this with the keyboard or mouse or you could text with the nuberkeys, like texting on a cellphone (in Europe this is called SMS - and xbmc used the command JumpSMS2 etc). In Boxee 1.5 it seems that this virtual keyboard has been replaced with a Search line, into which you type letters with the keyboard only - it does not respond to SMS texting.

Finally got it: Copied keyboard.xml over to the personalized \userdata\keymaps and copied over Number0-Number9 from the global section to the Virtual Keyboard section. It now works to SMS text into the search line.

Spoke too soon - it is very erratic. Actually once got back to a virtual keyboard, just not the search line. Will need to work this through a bit more and will keep you posted.

Sending f12 with the remote gets me to the SearchDialog line and mouse clicking on the magnifying icon starts the virtual keyboard, but how start it with the remote? Usually have to press "2" five times before A B etc appears. Seems rather hopeless actually. Don't suppose there is any documentation?

Ok, "f12" and then "enter" brings up the virtual keyboard (just like before - see the link) - but then what? Navigating with the PC keyboard arrow keys is highly erratic, so the only way to continue seems to be typing with mouse on the virtual keyboard.

Will now conclude this monologue.

Made a final attempt before ditching Boxee. I had installed over the previous personalized settings. Now I uninstalled, purged the personal settings and reinstalled. This solved some of the problems I mentioned above. Dedicating a button to open the virtual keyboard (command {f12}{enter}), and I can now navigate this with the remote arrowkeys (or with the mouse) and thus search by only using the remote.

But there now seems to be no way to enter (SMS) texting. Probably some older settings made me almost get there before. I seems that Boxee has completely taken away this function, probably in favour of a remote control with a keyboard. That is ashame.
