    Default Solved...it seems...

    Hi,
I downloaded http://code.google.com/p/rt-n56u/ called 1.0.8.d-P3 and I'm now abel to connect my Boxee Box wired and DHPC with no issues at all.

I've always been able to connect wireless...the issue was via wire.

Let us know how it goes. Not really impressed with Asus fw, so the custom could improve upon the hardware performance.

Still works like a charm .

I even noticed a faster wifi to the laptops, but that could change slightly from day to day so it is not something I can prove.

Could someone else test this also?

After posting, I decided to try as well. No issues so far..appears to be a few other setting pages as well in the router config page.

I had similar problems. I tried with different firmware versions. I ended up having to revert to 1.0.1.7f to get it to work reliable. Not only will my Boxee Box not be online reliable, DHCP stops working and I cannot access my Netgear NAS using AFP above using any of the 1.0.1.8 versions.

I setup my RT-N56U today and just ran into the same issue. Your solution solved it for me. Thanks.

I turned it on and the Boxes picked up the IP address I had reserved for it. Then I turned off the EzQoS and it was still fine when I had it get the Ip again. I never had an issue with the wireless though.
There are some quirks with this router. Still not sure if I will keep it. I might go back to my DGL4500 or get one of the new WD routers to try.

For this solution to work I had to keep the EzQoS on which turns off the hardware NAT in the ASUS firmware. And that was one of the reasons I got this router. And having it off makes a noticeable difference in the web browsing speed.

I ended up installing one of the custom firmwares available here.

    http://code.google.com/p/rt-n56u/downloads/list

SO now I don't have any issues with the RT-N56U and the Boxee Boxes. Plus the router firmware is miles better than what the official firmware offers. Giving you more options to choose from, a newer GUI, and also providing you with more router info as well.

Even the new official ASUS beta firmware I tried doesn't come close this custom firmware.

So instead of me thinking about getting a different router because of the crappy official firmware, I am now glad I have this, since is does much more and is much better than the DGL4500 router it replaces in my network.

I browsed around the page for the CFW but couldn't find much info. What is the difference between that and OFW? Any annoying bugs that still need ironing out?
