It is not the battery as I'm able to turn the boxee on from the remote to begin with. Once It turns on and the menu loads I'm not able to navigate or do anything with the remote. Please help.

I've plugged in a mouse and that works to navigate but obviously this is not desired and is temporary. How do i get the remote working?
Have you tried a new battery? -- or reseating the old battery
it wasn't the battery. I read another forum post that suggested unplugging the power for a while. That worked oddly.
It'd be nice if they can release some firmware that doesn't result in some completely random problem every other week.
@ReeG thanks for the update ..this issue is not related to the current firmware but we are looking into it .
The reason this fix (oddly) works is because it's not a problem with the remote, but the RF transceiver module within the Boxee Box. This module is what communicates with the remote. It stays on even when the Boxee itself is off, because it has to listen for a signal from the remote that turns the Box on. Sometimes this RF module gets stuck and needs a hard reboot, and the only way to do this is to totally disconnect the power from the Boxee Box.
@Marcel - can you update on this problem? Is it a firmware issue on the RF module?

@tronbrain uses Boxee Box hardware rev A2, with firmware V1.5.0.23735 <- CLICK ME to learn how to up or downgrade firmware.
Connected to a Panasonic Viera 32-inch LED TV in 1080p HD.
Hard-wired to Ethernet network via a D-Link DGS-2208 8-Port 10/100/1000 Desktop Switch.

To be clear, there is the firmware for the Boxee itself, and there is a separate firmware that runs the RF moudule. At least that's my understanding of it. Whether the RF module firmware gets updated with the firmware updates is undetermined. But you're probably right that it was.

wow I thought this was because I dropped my new remote a couple times this morning.. haha.
I have a brand new remote (as I'm sure tronbrain knows about since we both seem to be popping up in the same remote threads) so this is a new issue for me, but apparently a known one.
