Post BlueRay main menu/folder structure playback?

What's the status on the following two features?

    -blueray main menu playback functionality?
(boxee can't do, only plays files you tell it to)

    -blueray folder structure playback?
(probably linked to above. Can't play BlueRay folder structure, while play DVD folder structure just fine, aka VIDEO_TS, etc)

It was never announced BB is going to get this feature, so we will not see this functionality in the current BB. BB only supports basic menu for bd files

This shouldn't be a "special", but rather "comes standard" feature, hence the question.

I'd still like to get the answer from devs.

To be honest if you want an answer from the development team you would be better off either emailing one of them or asking on twitter. This is a user forum and the team don't tend to visit here that often.

    Hope that helps.

If you're asking about full menu support for BR ISOs, I believe it's a non-starter due to licensing costs. Feel free to email marcel@boxee.tv to get additional clarification.

Yes - there are licensing costs involved and not many, compared to all of the available media players offer full BD menu support

You can check here if full BD menu support is a 'must have' for you - the search results can be filtered accordingly - but out of the almost 500 media players, the majority of them will not offer full BD menus... http://www.iboum.com/net-media-players.php

The VLC guys have been developing an open source implementation of BD menus for playback under linux, though I've no idea if you would still be forced to license BD menus regardless as Boxee is a commercial project not a non-profit one like VLC.

If they weren't then that might be an option for BD menus, plus it would avoid having to adopt the dreaded Cinavia DRM which the BD consortium is trying to tie to new BD players.
