Default Some new x264 mp4 encoded files not working

To anyone who doesnt know, the overlords of TV piracy (ASAP BAJSKORV C4TV D2V DiVERGE FTP KYR LMAO LOL MOMENTUM SYS TLA YesTV) have started to do away with the old xVid/avi standard and have started distributing in x264/mp4 files. This is all within the last month or so. check this out (apparently, they have formed their own standards committee): http://scenerules.irc.gs/t.html?id=2012_SDTVx264r.nfo

I have found out the hard way that with SOME of these x264/mp4 files, the last 4 minutes or so of an episode is "corrupted". By corrupted i mean: sound goes out, video starts to stutter. half of this can be fixed in this manner: go to the settings and change one of a couple different settings like video resolution, audio output format, and a few others. you can even momentarily change them to something else and then immediately put them back to what they originally were. Then fire up that file again (from where you left off, or anywhere else really, FF/REW through) and the video wont be stuttering anymore, but the sound will still be nonexistent.

an example of what does work: The.Simpsons.S23E15.HDTV.x264-LOL.mp4
an example of what does NOT: The.Walking.Dead.S02E13.HDTV.x264-ASAP.[VTV].mp4

notice the two different distributors LOL and VTV. i dont know how they are encoding, but the point of all of this is......Boxee box cannot handle SOME of the new idiosyncrasies of SOME of the new x264/mp4 files that are being spread all over the web.

Boxee Crew: please help!!!!! I had to watch the last 6 minutes of the walking dead season finale on (gasp!) my desktop computer!!!

    I would like to add:

at the moment it seems only VTV distro's are not working. the "council" that consists of those who have created and agreed on the new x264/mp4 standard are:

TVx2642012 rules created by the following groups: -
    - ªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªªª -
    - ASAP BAJSKORV C4TV D2V DiVERGE FTP KYR -
    - LMAO LOL MOMENTUM SYS TLA YesTV

I think it would behoove Team Boxee to find out why VTV's distro's are not working, since i only acquired these files because that's what showkarmarss's list is pumping out and most likely many many other boxee users.

really? no one else is having ANY issues with any of the newer x264/mp4 files getting distro'ed recently?

Is there any way (software on a computer, through boxee) that can tell someone all of the different settings used to compress a file so that I can compare the working file and the non working one? thanks...

If you want "Team Boxee" to know about this issue, you're best bet is to file a bug report here: http://jira.boxee.tv/

You can use a program called "media info lite" to gather/output the encoding info for those files that aren't working -- and would probably be very useful to include in the ticket you submit.

(Personally, I grab the x264/mkv files so this changeover hasn't affected me directly)

I use sick beard + sabnzbd -- I think it's the Quality: HD setting that ensures I get the .mkv files. The rss feed that I have set up for that comes from nzbs.org

Not sure how much that helps -- where is showrss coming from, I might have time to poke at it later...

I took a peek at the shows rss site and it looks like you can at least choose your quality setting to be 720p which might get you the mkv versions instead but it's not clear from the site or the feed I tried to generate...

I've had a few recent mkv files that had to be run through mkvmerge as the files wouldn't play through vlc or the boxee.
