To anyone who doesnt know, the overlords of TV piracy (ASAP BAJSKORV C4TV D2V DiVERGE FTP KYR LMAO LOL MOMENTUM SYS TLA YesTV) have started to do away with the old xVid/avi standard and have started distributing in x264/mp4 files. This is all within the last month or so. check this out (apparently, they have formed their own standards committee): http://scenerules.irc.gs/t.html?id=2012_SDTVx264r.nfo
I have found out the hard way that with SOME of these x264/mp4 files, the last 4 minutes or so of an episode is "corrupted". By corrupted i mean: sound goes out, video starts to stutter. half of this can be fixed in this manner: go to the settings and change one of a couple different settings like video resolution, audio output format, and a few others. you can even momentarily change them to something else and then immediately put them back to what they originally were. Then fire up that file again (from where you left off, or anywhere else really, FF/REW through) and the video wont be stuttering anymore, but the sound will still be nonexistent.
an example of what does work: The.Simpsons.S23E15.HDTV.x264-LOL.mp4
an example of what does NOT: The.Walking.Dead.S02E13.HDTV.x264-ASAP.[VTV].mp4
notice the two different distributors LOL and VTV. i dont know how they are encoding, but the point of all of this is......Boxee box cannot handle SOME of the new idiosyncrasies of SOME of the new x264/mp4 files that are being spread all over the web.
Boxee Crew: please help!!!!! I had to watch the last 6 minutes of the walking dead season finale on (gasp!) my desktop computer!!!
