Default Netflix 8152 error (hackint0sh's)

I'm not going to get into the rights or wrongs of the hackint0sh scene, but I wanted to post a fix for getting around the 8152 error netflix causes on some hackint0sh boxes.

This works on a 10.5.6 boot-132 retail install. However, reports are in that this should generally help fix the problem for all "macs" getting the 8152 error.

The problem: You go to watch a netflix instant movie, the netflix app loads, it tests your video, you get buffered data, and then an 8152 DRM error shows up.

First you'll need kext helper:

http://cheetha.net/

Now you need some kext's:

smbios.zip

AppleSMBIOS.zip

IONetworkingFamily.zip

AppleSMBIOSEnabler.zip

You'll need to have an account on insanelymac.com in order to download the files

Original thread here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ind...ic=134517&st=0

Drag all 4 kexts onto kexthelperb7 type in your password, and choose easy install.

Then reboot, it will update boot caches and restart your computer.

Go into Safari, login to netflix, play any movie, and now you can stream to your hearts content in boxee

I have been looking everywhere for this. It works great for 10.5.3 as well.

Quick tip, if you don't have silverlight 2.0 installed and when you attempt to install it then end up with the "CAN NOT INSTALL THIS ON A PPC SYSTEM" just open the contents of the pkg file and go into resources, delete the InstallationCheck file.

Default nope

I have a Dell GX520 with the Kalyway 10.5.3 build.

I applied the kexts and they fragged my ethernet. No connection at all.

I assume it was the IONetworkingfamily.kext that did it.

So, beware. (Now I have to search for that kext from my Kalyway install discs and reinsert it.)

Yay.

ALSO NOTE that in the thread sited here from insanelymac.com, the very first fix only says that they used the AppleSMBIOS.kext and this alone fixed the issue.

Default Still not working

Well, I decided to update to 10.5.6 to see if this would somehow make these more compatible.

NO

The IONetworkingFamliy frags the ethernet.

Not sure what the other stuff is supposed to do.

I replaced the IONetworkingFamliy.kext with a backup I made and the ethernet is back again.

But, the DRM error still exists. So, this is not working.

Next?
