    Default I'm done

I've loved the concept of a home network media player for a long time now, and been a supporter of Boxee Box since right after it came out. I struggled through the incredibly frustrating [7777] bug that at first Boxee denied (and closed the ticket before it was fixed). But they eventually fixed the [7777] error and the BB was playable again (for a while).

I've struggled through a lot of bugs, in fact, but very few have been show-stoppers. But this newest one for which Boxee seems to have NO solution whatsoever has done me in. Marcel says they can't reproduce the problem, so I imagine it's not even a priority right now.

You can read all about it here:

When I contacted Marcel and mentioned I'm having this on one of my THREE Boxee Boxes, his first troubleshooting step was for me to try a different HDMI cable, even though I made it clear this only happened after I let the Boxee Box upgrade to the latest firmware. Really? I really need to change HDMI cables? Although I knew this was a wasted effort, I did my due diligence and tried it. (It didn't help, of course.)

The temporary solution was to plug and unplug the HDMI cable after the initial bootup, and the picture would suddenly appear after being plugged back in. We that did for a week or two. Then one day, the Boxee Box completely died.

It's with DLink right now, which they would only accept after I sent them my receipt showing it was brand new.

I'm tired. If I wanted to be a beta-tester, I wouldn't have paid $600 for three media players. I just want a reliable media player that doesn't constantly give me crap.

I'm not whining or begging for help. Just letting some steam off before I start searching for a replacement media player. I've had it.

For you guys not encountering any bugs, great for you. Watch yer back. lol

Sorry to hear about the issues.

As a shot-in-the-dark, can you revert back the firmware before you were seeing the black screen issue?

Do you not find it strange that your two other boxes are ok ?
Boxee is a good product - stop bashing it.
If we all include our setup we could all help each other better

I have not tried to revert back to the previous firmware. It didn't give me a choice about the upgrade, so I am sure if I could go back, I would just have to upgrade again.

It's not strange at all. This problem only occurs with select TVs. I have tried two different Boxee Boxes with this particular TV. Both worked before, and neither work after the firmware was updated.

    Thanks for the responses.
