Default Should I buy a boxee Box or wait for an upgrade?

Should I buy a boxee Box or wait for an upgrade? The hardware is 2 years old and now that they have a live TV tuner (but you can only watch 1 channel at a time right?) I am debating on if I should wait or buy? The price is still rounding at the 165.00 mark. It took Apple a few years to update the Apple TV and I just don't want to buy this then a month or 2 later they announce Boxee Box 2!

AFAIK there won't be a new hardware anytime soon, as they've already released new hardware iomega TV worldwide except North America..
I'm not clear that what you trying to say by “but you can only watch 1 channel at a time right?”

I mean, there is no PiP with boxee.. So then which Boxee box do you recommend? Yeah I live in America, but the Iomega box looks pretty interesting. So do you recommend my buying the D-link? I've read so-so reviews, the desktop software always felt solid but never fully baked. I've been using the software since 2008..

I would definitely wait for either a hardware upgrade or a major software upgrade. There are too many problems with the current setup and I ended up dumping mine months ago. If they ever get there ish together and address problems, I may consider purchasing again.

I'd recommend D-Link as it's the prime product from Boxee which is getting frequent updates. I've heard that iomega Boxee is still on firmware 1.2 with some missing apps !!

I agree. For me, the boxee was easy to set up and support quickly answered any questions I had. The live tv for me was quite disappointing but overall, I'm very happy with the boxee. We certainly don't miss the money we were paying every month for satellite!

From my perspective, the Boxee Box hardware actually works good. My wireless network connectivity is fine, no problems with video or audio.

The heart of the matter is Boxee software. That has major problems right now. I'm not certain they will get fixed, and I have lost confidence that they will. The Adobe Flash issue is killing the ability to view online programming of the big networks. There will be no Hulu. Basically, the BB is going to be a device for paid subscription services like Vudu and Netflix in the future. I don't subscribe to any of those services, and I don't wish to. I think if Navi-X ever gets shut-down, I may just wind up dumping the thing in landfill.

Boxee Box is really the best there is right now even with the bugs. I've been looking for a couple of years. Originally had a WDTV.

To get PIP, you need a dual tuner. I have PIP by splitting the same antenna cable to the TV (Sony) and Boxee LiveTV. Then set the TV's PIP function between the TV tuner and Boxee Box. Works great.
