    Exclamation x264 mp4-files won't identify.

Over the last few weeks more and more releases have been in x264.mp4 insted of the older format Xvid.avi/mpeg.

Now to the issue the Boxee Box won't identify the new episodes if they are in mp4-format. I've tried doing it manually but without any result.
Does the boxee box support mp4?
And if so why won't it show in the tv-shows category?

since all the major releasegroups have/are about to change to this newer format it would be great if the boxxe will identify them like it does with Xvid.

This only concerns the SD-material (x264.mp4) not the HD-material (x264.mkv)

I haven't had any problems with the Boxee recognizing files in the .mp4 format through a normal scan.

I think the manual identification is another issue that is not related to .mp4 format though.... at least I've seen lots of comments on manual identification problems and I'm experiencing them as well. I haven't tried the latest release but I think manual identification problems were fixed in that release... at least I hope they were.

The format doesn't matter so long as it's one that Boxee can play. What's important is the filename and the location of the file, making sure it's within a path that is actually going to be scanned.

And to answer the OP specifically, Boxee does support H.264 and x264 - it doesn't matter whether the video is in MP4 or MKV containers.

If you go into Files then your share, does it list them there? If not, check the sharing properties on the individual files. They may not be inheriting share permission from the folder if they were originally downloaded to a different folder that didn't have sharing enabled.

The manual identification issue was resolved with thw 1.5.1 beta 3 realese. At least on the files I tested it on about 10 files in various formats all work fine accept the x.264.mp4.

All the files are named correctly according to the guide on Boxee homepage and are in the correct paths.

Yes the files are showing in "Files".

I will run a couple more tests tonight when i get of work. I've downloaded a couple of shows in both xvid.avi and x.264.mp4

    This is an odd thing.

I have 2 boxees one on wired and wireless.

The wired one is identifying the newer .mp4 just fine. But the wireless one is not.

I checked under file sources and it says it just scanned my folders
