It isn't the truth. It's speculation, and customers being angry for the lack of communication.

Probably Boxee staff is working hard on adding support to receive encrypted Comcast channels:

(...)"It has been good to work with Comcast and come up with a proposed solution that will address the concerns of both the cable companies and Boxee," a Boxee spokeswoman said today [July 2nd, 2012].
The FCC filing does not cite a specific timeline, except to say that they hope to have this in place "as soon as possible." (...)
    http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2406598,00.asp
(...)But as newly reported by MultiChannel News, Comcast got Boxee to shut up by agreeing to develop a work-around product. It's a "high definition digital transport adapter with an ethernet connect" that will let Boxee customers get an internet streamed version of their local channels through the box - if certified Comcast customers, we presume.(...)

Anyway, this would only be helpful to US users that subscribe to Comcast. All the rest (of the world and the non-Comcast subscribers) would not care about this...

Good work in ferreting out some of what they are up to. If they are broaching similar proposals with other cable companies I can see why this is taking a load of time. I'm a Comcast customer but not interested in getting their content thru the Boxee. Comcast provides 2 rent-free DTAs to each subscriber already. Unless there are plans for a DVR function I can't see the value in buying a Boxee tuner just for Comcast. It could consolidate basic cable TV viewing into Boxee's other functions and if the tuner retained a coax connector as well for OTA content that might be attractive to some users. Since there seems to be no fixes coming for HD audio and flash I guess they are working on other ideas. I'm far more interested in fixing local content playback bugs than this stuff, hell, DVD menus don't even work right. That's hard to fathom in a product approaching two years in age.

As you know, the flash issues are every mobile device. From my point of view, all Boxee can do is make sure there current browser works properly with HTML 5. As for Comcast, I'm not a subscriber there so I don't care for it.

However, I do agree they need to address some major bugs that have been in the bug list for quite some time. I personally think they need to either split up project list. Maybe have a team working on main bug fixes, and than another team focusing on improvements and add ons.

    My two cents anyways..

    whoever wrote this...

" Everything you say about communication is true, except that you are laboring under the false assumption that you are the customer. The stock holders are the customer, we are the product. They won't say anything that might make the customer uneasy. "

    ...is a moron.

We are indeed the product, but the stockholders are not the customer... they are the business owners. The likes of spotify, Hulu, netflix, NFL etc are the customer.

Your customer is the person who generates you income. Who generates boxee's income? The content suppliers who give boxee a cut for users who access via the box.

The reason boxee is going down the tubes is indeed because boxee does not have enough customers... except people think we are the customers. what boxee need is more content partnerships.
Boxee Box > HDMI > HDTV
    2 x HTPC (boxee 0.9) > HDMI > HDTV

Not sure what's not working right for you in 'menus' - using menus on a 1:1 ISO from the original DVD has always worked fine for me using this frmw (v1.5.1.23735) -- the only issue I have is 'resume' - but for short 'intermissions' the pause/play feature works fine

I don't use the menus much at all - so I just checked 4 different DVD/ISOs to be sure the menu feature still works - and of course it does, at least for me on both of my BBoxes

Yeah I know the flash problem and the HD audio are not something Boxee can fix themselves I just meant that shouldn't stop them from addressing the other issues we all want fixed.

Interesting they work for you. DVD menus don't work right for me, I use Imageburn. I started a JIRA on it and they were able to reproduce it. I haven't looked in months to see if they made any progress. What happens is the background graphic is reduced in size to about 1/3 and sits in the upper left hand corner of the screen. The menu buttons remain where they should be but are invisible except for the selection cursor. What I have to do is look at the graphic and try to decide what menu button I am on. Just checked four ISOs and they all did it. Funny, sometimes the menu will appear the right size and then vanish and come back borked. What do you create your ISOs with?

I agree that more online content is necessary and desirable but the box is sold as a local media player too. At that it has some serious issues.

I use AnyDVD to 'rip to Image' without using ImgBurn

And yes, now that you explained your issue, I do remember seeing the same problem a while back where the menu is reduced in size and thrown up in the top left corner - but as you describe, matching the cursor position to the menu image in the top left allows your desired selection to be chosen -- as mentioned, I don't use 'menus' much at all and since this was an occasional occurrence that still basically functioned, I had forgotten about it!
