I got the update.
Didn't get it at first when i manually searched for it.
I simply cut off the Boxee's power,powered it up again and did
a new search for updated firmware,and the new firmware showed up

Mine too hasn't shown up, I've had it turned off a few times and had the screensaver on quite a bit.. still nothing.

I just gave up and downloaded the ISO and did the upgrade that way this afternoon.

Aren't you forgetting that a factory restore kills the entire media database ?

So after any factory restore all sources have to be redefined and scanned from scratch, which can take a very long time for anyone with a large media library. (Somewhere between 36 and 48 hours for my setup I think.)

This is clearly not something acceptable to do routinely for minor version updates.

I could understand it in going from v1.2 to v1.5, as that involves major changes of the data structures used for the database, making the old structures in an old database obsolete. But that's not the case when upgrading from one v1.5 version to another only slightly modified one.

Such an upgrade should never require a factory restore.
(Unless it wasn't done when first going to v1.5 from v1.2...)

I totally agree such a update should not require a factory default but unfortunately boxee itself often makes it needed.
This is of course made even worse by boxee appalling outdated scanning and identifying making the process quite slow.

Boxee updating process is bad to begin with and often doesn't remove old code.
Combine this with boxee shockingly bad coding practice which is bad to the point they don't even bother to check if a simple update like manual identification works before releasing it.

If they actually get serious and do a proper job then a factory reset would be need in very rare cases and then rescanning wouldn't be so long or painful.

My Boxee Box just updated.
Now when its booting to the home screen and the round "loading" icon is shown, the screen goes blank for several seconds.
The loading icon appears again for a second, then the screen goes blank again.
This continues on an endless loop!

I downloaded the latest boxee.iso and installed it from a thumb drive, hoping it was just something corrupted with the direct download.
But the same issue is still present.

Luckily I keep all working ISOs (for me) backed-up in case of situations like this, but hopefully this isn't a problem next release I install.

Yep mine did the same thing,i had to do a factory restore and updated manually from USB.

Initially it had installed automatically via internet,it updated fine and used to switch off fine and after 2 days i switched it on again but got the same issue as you ,so then i did the factory restore and manually updated via USB.

But now my boxee box won't turn off.
