    Default mode not supported

ok here is my frustrating issue with the boxee box (hardware device not software app)

I find a film on my pc to play, it starts to load but the film is in a format boxee cannot play...so the screen goes blue with a "mode not supported" message. Now what ever i do with the remote buttons i cannot get boxee user interface back, it beeps when i hold center button but nothing, nothing ever,

while playing a film boxee recognises i click the button sequence to come out of palying the film back to menu choice (to learn the sequence), i tried this while in "mode not supported" scenario but nothing, I cannot get back to boxee UI....is there a way to get back from "mode not supported" other than a hard reset?

This "mode not supported" message is something displayed by the television when it doesn't support the resolution or refresh rate being supplied by the Boxee Box rather than a Boxee Box message. It might be possible to get the display back after exiting the video by switching the television off and back on again.
The cause of the issue may be the "Match screen refresh rate to video" option (under Settings > General > Display). If that option is enabled then try disabling it and see if it helps.
That setting makes Boxee change the refresh rate of the output to match the frame rate of the video that is playing, which could result in that error if it results in a refresh rate not supported by your television.

Are you connected via hdmi directly to the TV or via a receiver? As @StevenR stated the message you see is from the tv not the box

I'm having this problem now. Samsung tv using HDMI cables.

My hookup used to be Boxee -> Yamaha Receiver -> Samsung TV

But I since connected the boxee right to my TV. I see the boxee boot-up sequence right past the tune that plays. It keeps going to the homescreen background with the circle cursor that shows its loading the home interface but then the screen goes black right before the options show up. I haven't changed the screen resolution and the only thing is I never powered down the boxee box, just let the screensaver kick in and i think, the power saver on the BB itself.

Any tips on how to get the screen to output at a resolution mode that my tv will apparently support?

    thx

Edit: I'm not able to get into the BB menu at all, unless there's a way in before it boots.

The EXACT same thing is happening to me on my 22" Samsung. A recent forced update caused this and I cannot figure out how to get it to work again. Why was the update forced?

Someone please let me know how to get this to work again. I have my BB mounted to the back of my TV and if I have to remove it to connect to my PC it will be a big pain in the butt.

Actually just verified that the same thing happens on my Samsung 32" and 46" TVs as well. All I own are 5 different Samsung TVs so I'm screwed right now. Suggestions?

I have a 46" samsung tv and I have the exact same problem after forcing the last update. I've read that the people at boxee want everyone on the same version so they don't have any issues, well it's causing your customers issues and I think that's a bigger problem. It's been over a month now with nothing....I'm ready to return my boxee.

Same exact problem! Is there any solution?

Boxee is unusable. Should I just get AppleTV?
