Default Boxee Bootloop and Remote not working

    Hey guys,

I shut down my boxee box two nights ago, and woke up the next morning with the green light still being on. My SO unplugged the back and then tried to boot it back up, and it appears to be stuck in a bootloop. It will load the beginning and then you'll see the screen with the logo, it will then try to load the home screen and it goes back to the logo screen.

I go to the recovery menu, and my remote doesn't work. I also can't turn the box on with the remote.

I tried resetting it via the power button (holding it down for 5-8 seconds), and the reset appeared to have worked, but I still got stuck in the bootloop.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Edit: I plugged in a USB keyboard and reset the settings and it boots up now, but I'm still having issues with the remote (even tried different batteries and re-pairing).

    Your database is corrupted.

Holy down power for 8 secs to boot to admin screen then reload your firmware

From the Recovery console (http://support.boxee.tv/entries/2077...covery-console) select "Reset all Settings"

marcel: I have done this as well and my remote still doesn't work.

I have also put in a new battery and tried to re-pair the remote, which doesn't work either.

It's possible that your problem is caused by a logic error in the remote receiver of the box itself. This part is always 'awake' even in shutdown state, so as to allow activation by the remote. But sometimes it's possible for this circuitry to lock up with a logic error which blocks all normal operation, not only of the reception of remote commands, but also interfering with the normal boot of the box itself. And since this part remains powered even in shutdown mode, the normal on/off switching of the box has no effect. Once in this lock-up state it stays there, no matter how many times you try turning it on/off.

If that is your problem, then it may be fixable simply by unplugging the power supply of the box and leaving it so for a while, to ensure that all voltages powering the remote receiver logic discharge fully, turning that circuitry completely off. That normally eliminates any lock-up state it may have had, so that the box boots normally after you plug it in and turn it on again.

If this doesn't help, then your problem must have other causes, but all the symptoms you mentioned match up with what others have seen for this problem, cured by the simple method described above.

    Best regards: Ronald
