SMB Buffering/NFS Loading Error - Can't win...
Since the update to 1.5 I have had the same buffering issues it sounds like everyone else is having when connecting to my NAS shares via SMB. It's not just HD files, but every single file I try to play. During a 22min TV show I'll get buffering hiccups about 3-5 times, and unfortunately it doesn't pick up exactly where it left off, so I need to then rewind by 20s to hear what was said.
So - based on some other advice here, I've tried to switch over to NFS. I'm using a dLink 321 NAS if that matters...I enabled the NFS share and have tried sharing out both the distinct media directories as well as the root mnt2 directory. I add them on boxee...but boxee can't identify any files. Then I tried browsing through the files interface, selected the NFS share and get a screen that says Loading Error - Could not access file, directory or device.
Any help would be much appreciated...although I wish they would just fix the damn SMB buffering issue - that should be a P1 hotfix if there ever was one.

A lot of people recommend a factory reset to version 1.5.
However SMB sharing seems like a constant issue on these forums so I'm not sure if a reset will fix it.
I run NFS and local streaming is generally pretty good (I never get buffering, but in a handful of files I get some skipping). I wonder if you're experiencing an NFS persmissions related issue? I'm not familiar with the NAS, so I can't really help troubleshoot other than to say that NFS does work well in my Boxee config.

Go back to 1.1.3 if you want no issues with streaming speeds. Otherwise live with it and wait quite a while for a fix.
