Have you added video/music/picture sources? Can you view them under Music->Source or Video-> source?
check out these video tutorials http://wiki.boxee.tv/Tutorials
I mean not even internet sources work
(Video->Internet->"No Results Found...")

you will need to ssh into Apple TV. from Linux and Mac OSX, use the ssh command line via the terminal.
1.ssh frontrow@{ip address}
2.To retrieve your IP (boxee>settings>general>IP or ATV>settings>general>about>IP
3.enter Password "frontrow"
4.rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/BOXEE/UserData/
Please could you explain how to solve the problem with less jargon. I do not understand what ssh means and it is not clear whether there are two actions here - entering password and then deleting a folder? When I first used Boxee I clicked on apps such as Tedtalks and got a whole list of videos, now al sources say "no reuslts found"; its very frustrating. Great software when it works, but now irt doesn't - what did I do????

First open up terminal (It is in the utilities folder within Applications)
Then type in "ssh frontrow@{IP ADDRESS OF APPLETV}" - To retrieve your IP (boxee>settings>general>IP or ATV>settings>general>about>IP
It will prompt for a password. it is front row. (you won't see the cursor move as you type)
Then copy and past this command "rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/BOXEE/UserData/" (without the quotes)
What does this do? SSH is a way to remote into another computer. It stands for secure shell. You are then removing the contents of the folder UserData that store a bunch of preferences and library info. Boxee will then repopulate. It will allow you to start fresh.
Thanks for the explanation. I forgot to say that i am running Boxee on a Macmini, not an AppleTV. Presumably the same instructions apply?
