Angry My feelings on Boxee (the end)

Way to completely abandon your old supporters. Half-ass your way through a BS version of your computer-based software that hardly works, release it with no developer support, then after you can say you released "one more version", yank all links to download it AND the links to download the last stable version. The free version we supported, bug fixed, donated to, etc. - ultimately making you marketable - was just too much of a competitor to the Boxee Box, eh? Leaving links up doesn't take away from your focus of anything -- it's a business move so stop insulting everyone's intelligence with your BS press release.

I hope you know that the rest of the world knows this BS so you at least get the black eye you deserve.

Yes, I've heard all the retorts that "it's free; move on". That's valid, but many of us have invested much in this community (I'm posting under a different name), in this software and certainly even, in the development of our HTPCs under this platform.

I do hope someone picks up this project, and in many ways, the silver lining here is my introduction to Plex. I'll be supporting those developers and that community. In fact, I'll be supporting anything that competes with you.

But before I leave Boxee, I just wanted to give you your just black eye for this BS you've pulled.

Don't worry, once they delete this forum entries noone will ever know.

Just cut the app cration/crawler support as a community and watch what happens - try not to laugh too hard about them trying on their new "on demand" shoes on their new "all proprietary hardware plattform" and watch them suffocate before even reaching anything resembling critical mass, with their overpriced hippster device.

Oh yes - and this was by far the ugliest "open source project turned sellout" I've ever experienced.

I bought the Boxee Box, I'm happy with it. Sure it has problems, bugs, featured arn't implimented that should be, HOWEVER :-

I paid good money for it, Iv'e invested what really counts "HARD EARNED CASH".

Now all the 'FREELOADERS' are moaning and groaning because Boxee quite rightly are putting the 'Box' before the computer.

C'mon what did you guys think would happen ?

They have an obligation to get the box runing brilliantly, and why should'nt they. They owe it to all that invested in the box.

I know it goes against what they said originally, but tell me of a company that does not shaft people as they get big(er) ? They all do it in the end.

Now if you don't want to invest money in it, XBMC is your system (and a good one at that).

Moved on to Plex and I really like the way it displays the original art and show summaries for each TV show and movie.

I liked Boxee with my iPad - but that stopped working early on, well before the 1.5 debacle.

    Buh bye.

Time is a really good healer, I have no doubt that Boxee will sort most if not all the problems out. They are a small company, and this stuff is really hard to do. I'm sticking with them.....
Boxee is a good product - stop bashing it.
If we all include our setup we could all help each other better

I love when people come to the "boxee for mac help" forum and talk about the Boxee Box. Sorry, but I "bought" a Mac Mini way before the Boxee Box was even announced so I could run Boxee as my Media Center.

It was a great system and I really needed an upgrade from my Classic Xbox running XBMC. So please go back to your "Boxee Box" forum and troll.

It's seems pretty fair to me to complain about a "upgrade" that has very glaring bugs that pretty much nullifies the point of using Boxee anymore. I don't feel like spending even more money just so I can get another Media Center machine.

    kthxbye

If you bough a mac mini to run boxee on then your an idiot - sorry but it has to be said....

Also - if you want FREE install XBMC which does everything Boxee does and some would argue better than.

I'm not a troll, i'm a realist, but that said I did not realise that this thread was the Mac side of the forum - that said it changes NOTHING.

And NO its not fair to complain about something that was GIVEN to you for free.

Except for maybe a disease or something !

but thats not the issue here is it, the issue is that your mad because something was given to you for free, you used it (even though there were many open source equivalents you could have used) and it no longer works how you would like, and is no longer supported..... you come here and announce to the world (and I quote) "Moved on to Plex and I really like the way it displays the original art and show summaries for each TV show and movie."

Then have the audacity to call me a Troll.

Like the other guy said - boohoo cry me a river.. (and get over yourself)

lol, yes, I'm an idiot for buying a computer to run as a Media Center; just like millions of other people. Not sure where you quoted "me" from related to Plex; or do you think that all "mac" users are just one little amoeba you can call idiots for complaining about a system they grew to enjoy using.

I'm glad mommy bought you a Boxee Box for Xmas, but the rest of us have been using and helping Boxee become better. They got our time for testing and debugging their system and we got a more stable system. Now all that time we "spent" is down the drain because they got greedy, so I think it's plenty fair to complain.

I do love it when people feel they need to bold things and type in capitals to make them seem more right than the next person.
