Boxee won't find video files without internet connection

When attempting to load boxee without an active internet connection, it will not find my video files. These are local files in my /home/$USER/Videos/Anime/ folder and each series is placed in a subfolder.
Connecting to the internet will show the files perfectly, but not without one.
I have restarted the computer, re-loaded the source settings, gone in and out of the video section multiple times and they will not show unless I'm connected to the internet. Maybe it gets stuck on trying to retrieve information from the video files?
