    Default Boxee crashes when identifying videos

    I have around 12 movies that Boxee won't identify on my Apple TV. A few are stored on an external HDD connected to the aTV, and a few are streamed from a network pc.

    I have around 200 or so movies that identify just fine, but these last few won't. So when I go in to manually identify them, Boxee crashes. The Apple logo appears, and I get the "Error: XBMC/Boxee exited with status: 4" message. I've tried at least 10 times, with the same exact result.

    This used to happen maybe once a week or so, and I just chalked it up to the aTV being overloaded. But now, it's happening every single time, and I can't add these 12 or so movies to my library.

    Thanks!

    If you using boxee on the atv, your using the beta version. Your db may be corrupted. You may need to remove your userdata and start over. You will have to re-login, and let boxee re-scrape, but that should fix the issue.

    I'm using a fresh install basically. I had a major issue with the aTV a few days back, so I restored it to factory settings, and started all over. I literally added Boxee 12 hours ago.

    I'll try your suggestion and see though.

    When you say a factory restore, did you go through the motions of restoring, updating OS, installing patchstick etc

    The reason I ask, is that sometimes people just re-install boxee without deleting the userdata folder.

    Just in case;

    sudo rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/BOXEE

    and

    sudo rm -rf ~/Applications/Boxee.app

    So, just a quick update on this whole situation.

    I solved my issue, and it was pretty basic.

    Go to Settings, then Media, then Advanced, and UN-check "Automatically generate thumbs for videos with no cover art". DONE.

    It must have something to do with trying to identify and load 300+ files from one root folder on the external HDD. Anyway, that fixed it.
