    Default Boxee and Slingbox

    Bought Boxee exclusively as a slingbox player. Resolution forced to "good" only which is lower res than I get by using a laptop connected to large TV. Called customer service - pathetic, indifferent. After their "help" slingbox cannot load from Boxee. They suggested I do this thread (without any instructions on how to do so). Please help to get slingbox app working. Also, is max resolution only "good". If so, will return device. Thanks

    I am having a similar problem with Boxee + Slingbox. Works fine on the laptop but not on the Boxee app.

    Similar issues here

    Running firmware 1.5 on the Boxee
    App is version 1.3
    Slingbox HD Pro running firmware 2.1.350

    Have tried wired & wireless - no difference
    Boxee only allows 3 options - basic, good, best(HD)
    On basic it's more stable, but still stutters and resolution is terrible on a 55" TV
    Switching to Good causes more framerate issues with constant loss of picture/sound as it seems to try and rebuffer.. Sometimes will lose connection also.
    Is unusable at best(HD) - shows about 2-3secs, pauses, buffers, show again..

    Of course - my laptop/phone over wifi are perfect on the Best/HD option. No issues - great definition, high bitrates (even over wireless) and no stuttering.

    Is such a pity - Slingbox was my main reason to purchase the boxee. These issues and the other problems means it's sitting idle most of the time which is a pity.

    I was thinking of getting an HD slingbox so I could play stuff from my cable box in the living room on my bedroom boxee... I guess I'll hold off for now...
    PC->Boxee 1: 1.5.0.23615, HANEWin NFS,1gb wired thru switch,plays 100 mbps birds test file flawlessly
    PC->Boxee 2: 1.5.1.23734, wireless bridge,NFS,plays 70 mbps birds test file flawlessly
    PC: Vista Ultimate 64 bit,i7 intel quad core (2.67GHz),6GB RAM,eSATA RAID5 (TR5UT+B),170 MB/s avg transfer rate
    Router: Netgear N900 WNDR4500 (fw V1.0.0.70_1.0.18)

    Unhappy Boxee and Slingbox

    I am having the same problem, Slingbox installed in Pa, Boxee installed in Austin so that I can watch Phila channels on my TV in Autin TV, upgraded my cable service on both ends (6mbps upload in Pa, and 12mbps download ion Tx), called my cable company complaining that it was their network (speed issue). I see from this thread it is an issue with Boxee, very dissapointed, wife can't watch the Phillies...I'm in the dog house, please help!

    Same issue for months. Actually ever since I got the Boxee. Sling works great on all my computers, not my Boxee!

    Download speed constantly fluctuates and under "Current bitrate (kbps):" is most of the time between only 100-900 kbps when looking at the "Quality menu" (pressing Q in Sling Player app) despite being wired directly into router. Is not an issue with my DLink modem/router. I know this is either a direct issue with the Boxee Box or it's the Slingplayer app because I do not have any issue with Slingplayer apps for my other devices connected wirelessly on the same network (2 laptops connected wirelessly using SlingPlayer app and a Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone using a SlingPlayer app). So it's not an issue with my modem/router or the modem/router of where the SlingBox is connected. I get constant HD connection with "Current bitrate (kbps):" of ~3000kbps when connecting to SlingPlayer app on my computer.

    Has Boxee even acknowledged this?

    Not sure but this app may have actually been developed by the Sling folks and not the Boxee folks; have you checked with Sling technical support?

    Slingplayer is crap on every connected device I've tried, (Boxee, Revue, WD TV Live). Best experience is through the pc app with they don't maintain anymore. Terrible company, but the best placeshifting product available, can't wait for someone else to overtake them.

    Any updates on this? I am thinking of returning my boxee because this app sucks.
