Default Problems with resolution in Boxee on ubuntu 8.10

I recently installed Boxee on ubuntu 8.10 and haven't had time to play around with it. I went to the screen resolution settings and was playing around with that, seeing which resolution looked best when I found one, just below the one chosen by Boxee automatically of 1024 X 768 (full screen), which only allowed me a very small portion of the screen in visibility and the inability to work with it. I end up with a huge pointer and illegible wording on my screen. This wouldn't be a problem if I could fix it back, but now Boxee won't switch back. I tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling it, but this didn't help, the problem persisted.

To make matters worse, when I run boxee, my entire screen goes to that resolution and, when I close boxee, the screen stays in that resolution. It cuts off the left half of my screen and part of the right. I can't get to the menu in ubuntu to fix this and I can't get a terminal to fix this problem that way. I would really like to test the product itself, but at the moment it's unusable and causes my computer to become unusable until I reboot. Thankfully, once I reboot, the problem does not seem to exist until I restart boxee again. My next attempt will be a full uninstall of boxee, wiping it completely from my computer and a completely fresh installation of it. Please fix this very annoying problem as the rest of the program is coming along admirably.

    Default Still waiting

Anybody else have trouble with this or have an idea to fix it? I'm still really new to Linux in general so I'm not quite ready to tackle it on my own yet. At the very least I'd like to make sure the bug gets recognized so it can be fixed.

I've been using Boxee at a wide range of resolutions including 640x480, 1024x768, and 1080p (HDTV) without any problems. You can use a simple script to launch Boxee and then reset your system's resolution when Boxee is done running, if you're having a problem with GNOME after exiting Boxee. I guess Boxee is adjusting your system's video mode. Let me know if you want some guidance along those lines (the ticket is xrandr).

The problem isn't just when I close Boxee. I was playing with the resolutions and it got stuck on 640x480. Now I can't switch it back. I've tried uninstalling the program and then reinstalling it, but settings weren't reset to the original. The problem when closing it is simple enough to work around, but actually getting Boxee to switch back is the main problem, it just won't do it. It stalls to the point I have to force it closed, at which point I get the second half of the problem.
