Restart problems

Hey!
I've been using my BB for maybe 7 months now and I've encountered some problems during my ownership of this box. But now a major one has draged me down...
1. If I fiddle around in the menu the BB will freeze and I'll have to force-restart it or it'll restart itself.
2. If I don't do anything for about 20 sec after returning to menu after restart, the box freezes.
3. If I try to identify a movie thats misspelled, it freezes.


(You get the point. The box freezes like a canary at the Arctic circle when ever I touch it!)


and a problem thats been bugging me for months; when I'm trying to identify a movie that is spelled right(!) the boxee box can't find anything. e.i, i press identify on the menu where "unidentified movies" are and type in something like "Inception" (really common movie that everyone has) the search result returns NULL nada!!

Is my box faulty or is the SW hating me?

It could be a result of corrupt/broken firmware upgrade, please upgrade latest fw 1.5 Beta using USB and hopefully your problem will be solved

Yeah I forgot to say; I've factory reseted the box (tried with default fw), Updated to latest stable version and now the 1.5 beta... Same problemos! =(

Do the factory restore again but before doing that, use the "reset all settings" in the same restore menu/screen. I suspect that the media library/database is corrupt and it isn't being properly cleared out when only doing a factory restore.

Glad it's working out; the symptoms you posted (including a factory restore not helping) seem to be common ones related to the media library getting borked somehow.

Hope it works out from here on out!

I'm gonna take that back.... :P The problem remains but I'm thinking that the problem is related to my new family member; NAS Synology DS212 and SMB server....

Is it getting stuck while identifying? Do you have a lot of Local Sources added? If so, can you add them one at a time?

Or is it a more general networking/SMB issue with the Synology, do you think? Can it do NFS instead?

Still the same problem with AFP, SMB and NFS. The software restarts or freezes sporadically.. Even though it's scanned properly. Any idea or should I send my box to boxee hospital? What will they do, cause the retail from where I bought it said that they're going to "repair" it. I don't want to wait for 3-4 weeks for the retailer to check it less then I've done.

But I might disconnect the BB from the network and reset everything. If the problem remains when it's disconnected then it has to be the HW. Or?


BTW; The BB cpu runs at 78c (After been pausing a video for 5 minutes).... Thats A TAD hot!!! I believe somethings wrong with my dear box....
