    Default Audio cuts out

During MKV playback, the audio will cut out momentarily randomly throughout the movie.

    My setup:
Boxee Box hardwired to a Gigabit router
PC Media Server (Win 7 64) hardwired to a Gigabit router
    Server AMD E350 APU micro
    4GB Ram
HDD: 7200 RPM 1TB Seagate Drive.

Any clue what could be causing the audio issues? It just started doing this...

Please provide some more info about your setup i.e. BoxeeBox > HDMI>TV or BB > HDMI > AVR > TV or Optical out for audio. Also provide your video file info using mediainfo
BTW if its Dolby True HD or DTS HD audio then its a known issue, which Team Boxee is targeting to fix in Feb.-March.

If it just started doing it, and for movies that used to play fine, it's hard to say that the issue is with Boxee and not with something that might have changed in your setup...

What network protocol are you using to access your files?

Does the same thing happen with all videos? What about audio files?

What if you play a video file from a USB drive connected directly to the Box?

What Yuval from Boxee posted in the jira ticket (last November!) was:

We are currently targeting a February - March release. It's still too early to commit to a specific date.

    Boxee->HDMI->AVR (HK AVR354)->LG TV

The issue was happening with all .mkv files, but not with any other file type.

Directly connecting a HDD to the Boxee did not resolve the issue.

I just updated it to the 1.5.0.23422 beta firmware, and the problem seems to have disappeared.

I noticed this last night on a blue-ray, if I switch to optical audio vs HDMI would it be any different?

Then most likely you'll get 2.0 stereo only I'm not sure if that will kill the dropouts !! Why don't you use DTS track ??

same thing is happening with me during a DTS-HD MKV movie.

audio is fine for a majority of the time and then there is a few second of silence and it goes back. AV Receiver never cuts out or seems to lose the signal
    just the audio stops.

And it's still a known issue and it's never going to get fixed due to the chipset that's used in the boxee. Unfortunately your options are to put up with it or convert the audio to DTS or AC3.
