Anyone? Seem like a lot of people are looking to play music videos on the Boxee. A simple play all files at random in X directory would solve this issue.
Thanks!
+1 on this. Not only would I love a shuffle app for music videos, but I would also like automatic sequential play of the next file, like PS3 does.
The music videos are self-explanatory but I often save an entire series of TV shows to watch the entire thing from front-to-back, and autoplay of the next file would be great.
I still have more pressing requests though--Proper video scanning, better parsing (esp. for extras) and many other requests would take precedence over this.
This doesn't even need to be an app. Just make it so the select button on the remote plays back the selected file, and the play button on the remote plays back all files in the directory starting with the selected file. That's how it works on my popcorn hour, and I literally avoid using my boxee for anything that requires directory play because it sucks so bad at it. Currently the play button does nothing when a file is selected.
That would work, except the new boxees don't have a Play/Pause button. Instead, they replaced it with a brain-dead "Netflix" button which I despise.
When you have one of the new remotes, it takes 2-3 seconds to pause anything (you have to press select twice and it takes seconds for the first menu to appear). This ends up pausing in the wrong place and making me very, very irritated.
Well now I feel stupid recommending a boxee to anyone that isn't someone's grandparents the same as I would never recommend one of those phones with a facebook button to anyone who isn't a 13 year old teenage girl. Come to think of it, I would feel stupid recommended a boxee to someone's grandparents, even with the netflix button, because this product isn't exactly the demographic for the that stinking technology illiterate, besides I'm pretty sure "The Price is Right" doesn't stream online. My #1 feature request is now officially take off the stupid netflix button and polluting the minimalist remote with unwanted features.
e: At least they could work around this by making the netflix button programmable. I certainly don't have/want/use netflix, why would I want a useless button? Besides, XBMC has shown that a button can be assigned to launch netflix from the main menu, copy a file if there is a file selected, and pause a movie if there's a movie playing. We really could have it all.

You're definitely not alone in that; there's been a huge outcry of new purchasers who got the netflix button; but I'm guessing that netflix paid for it and made it part of a contract, so it probably won't go away any time soon.
The good news is that when I complained to DLink support about this, they sent out a new remote with the Play/Pause button...but I don't know if the stock on those will last for long.
