Default GLSL shaders not supported - Segmentation fault

    Hi,

Having recently installed Boxee 1.5 (or at least attempted to) following the instructions as outlined in sticky "Boxee 1.5 Install Tips [Ubuntu 11.10]" thread, when I run /opt/boxee/run-boxee-desktop I get the following displayed in the terminal:
    Code:
    ...
Starting connection server: specified server port: 5000
    Waiting for clients to connect
    19:15:44.456 NOTICE: starting zeroconf publishing
19:15:44.456 NOTICE: DS: Starting DBUS server in Run Application aka thread
19:15:44.483 ERROR: GL: GLSL shaders not supported

19:15:44.484 ERROR: GL: GLSL shaders not supported
19:15:44.484 ERROR: GL: GLSL shaders not supported
    Segmentation fault
Anyone else seen this and any suggestions to fix?

Any help would be much appreciated

    Thanks

    Bump!
    Same issue in the log.

Ubuntu Server 11.10 (alsa, xorg added)
Video Card: Intel On Board GME945 (I believe) - Its an Eee Box PC B202 with the Intel Atom n270
    using the i915 driver

I suspect this card doesn't have full Open GL support? Anyway around this?

If it is an issue with the graphics card and can't be resolved, I'll happily reinstall my previous version but I can't seem to find the old deb packages anywhere to download. Anyone know where I can find them?

    Thanks

Had I known this "upgrade" was going to break my install, I wouldn't have bothered! Never mind... I'll see this as an opportunity to switch to XBMC - at least that's still supported going forward.

    I'll miss Boxee...

Made the switch over to XBMC over the weekend and can't see myself ever going back! Not unless Boxee decide to start supporting HTPCs again.

Being a bit of a geek, I'll enjoy the customisability of XBMC over Boxee... there's even an add-on for iPlayer which is great Look forward to seeing what else there is to tinker around with!

My advice to anyone having Boxee issues following the upgrade? Switch to XBMC! You won't regret it

Default Oh my Boxee... What a shame.

Having been a user since it was in it's first alpha release, both on Ubuntu and Windows, I can only express dissappointment with Boxee and where it's gone.

I have this same issue, btw. An attempt at installing on Ubuntu left me with the known dependency issues, which I then resolved, only to get to a seg fault. The installation of their Windows binary on my PC also won't start because of what looks like a DX issue. It's probably easily resolved with some googling, but I just struggle to understand how any of these installers are released when they haven't been tested properly.

I understand Boxee's new business model, and I'd imagine they have shareholders telling them to target purely the Boxee Box, and streaming media, and to stop targeting development in the areas of people with their own flavour HTPC and local content - because that's where the money is.

Having shifted to XBMC (check out Aeon skin - wowzers) on my HTPC a couple months ago after getting tired of waiting for a PC update to Boxee, I thought it was worthwhile checking this new release out. What a shame.

It sucks seeing a product go down this route, but money talks, and I don't think custom HTPC's and local content are of Boxee's interests anymore.

As someone earlier said - I miss Boxee.

Move on, nothing to see here.
