Default Feedback on these issues please

    Hi,

Recently I've noticed the following issues with my Boxee Box for the first time.

-On the home screen the images for featured videos/apps at the bottom don't load. Just the homescreen background 'continues' in each border/frame.

-Images for online TV Shows including my favourites no longer load

-I can't install any apps. I was browsing through all the apps to see if I could add any more to my favourites but I just get an install error when trying to install tested/revision 3 or any app it seems. (existing favourite apps launch fine except the browser sometimes)

Just wondering if there is an issue with the Boxee servers or something that is causing these issues?

Also from time to time I'm unable to view a favourite show in the Boxee Browser, or just the Boxee Browser from my favourite apps as the circle will just remain on screen. When this happens I have to clear the cookies/cache/Adobe Flash shares objects. (I always do all three)

Finally the remote seems to have a mind of its own as well.

I say this because when I'm navigating the 'enter/select' button will be pressed numerous times automatically on screen or infact any other navigation button and when I'n typing in the Boxee Browser URL bar and press a letter once the same letter will type on screen automatically numerous times.

The best way I can describe it is the boxee is responding as if I'm holding down the relevant keys. It happens numerous times every time I use my Boxee Box recently.

    Try
    Restore factory defaults
Reinstall latest firmware using USB boot

I have to agree with the recommendation of a factory reset (it's what I would do in your shoes at any rate).

Re: the remote: have you tried changing the battery? Or pairing it with the Box (see #1 in the READ THIS FIRST: Top Ten Boxee Topics stickied near the top of this forum section).

    Hi,

    Thank you for the replies.

I haven't seen the low battery indicator come on screen lately (pretty sure this briefly popped up a previous firmware release though) so I didn't consider that the battery could need replacing. Its just gone past a year of use so I guess it sounds about time to replace it. I only have one Boxee Box so I don't think it needs to be paired.

Any particular reason to use the USB method of upgrading to the current firmware? I was just going to let it download and install after restoring.

    Thank you

Yeah, the battery indicator seems to have stopped working since the last firmware release. At least one user has reported success with pairing their only Box and remote (they may have had a nearby neighbor however causing interference )

Updating with a USB can be slightly less prone to errors but yeah, I usually just update automatically for regular/public releases too.

    Ha.

I've selected to restore to factory defaults, selected OK and I've got a black screen for the past few minutes.

    I hope this is normal.

    Is it?

EDIT 1: I got bored of the black screen so I turned the Boxee off and held the power button for 8 seconds then selected to restore and its now downloading the latest firmware.

Love the display with the squares representing something is loading. :-)

EDIT 2: Factory restore has resolved the issues. The battery definetley needs replacing though.
