    Default Local Movies Filter

Hi, I am new here, playing with boxee for windows before buying HW.

How I can set Boxee so that it only shows me my movies (local files), that is filter out all other providers. In other words I would like Movies to behave exactly as TV Shows.

If I access via Files, I cannot search, or filter by genre, or anything.

    Thanks

You can't do this in the software version currently, but you can in the version for the Boxee Box.

How sad! why is that? People would be more confident to invest in a box having tried the software version. I have bought several types of boxes just to end up disappointed. Eg, I had several DSM510, PCH C200, etc...

Boxee is working a long awaited update for the desktop version - when it's released, it should function similar to the BBox's frmw

Purchase the Boxee Box from a retailer with a good return policy, put the Box through its paces, then decide if it's for you or not.

    Default I followed your advice

Well I got me a Boxee, and am trying to decide is I keep it.
I mostly use it for local files:
    1) When I look for files in rever date order, the boxee becomes super slow.
    2) Can't Search for directors, or actors,
    3) Does not show me the genre(s) when displaying movie info
    4) when searching it gives me a lot of info I dont care for.

    however,

I is probably the best I have tried so far... from a long list.

    still undecided

I must be missing something. In the Windows version of Boxee I have installed, when I select movies, it gives me an option. I can either see the movies on my disk, or movies at some remote location (I'm not sure which one).

I've never tried to see any of the remote movies, since my internet speeds are so anemic. But I'm sure if the option is present in the Boxee software, it must work.

But the OP (when talking about the Windows version) doesn't want the choice to show up at all -- he wants to filter out the online sources up front.
