I have a couple of tv series that I only have a couple of seasons for and the boxee populates the other seasons with links to online websites to see the other seasons... is there a way to stop it from doing this?

Yes, in the main Shows screen that displays all your shows, navigate to the right corner and select the icon with the four dots in it. Turn off all the online sources. Done.

@darcilicious:
Unfortunately that solution only works for sources that are shown in that selection menu.
In recent versions that menu has become region dependent, so it only shows the sources supposed to be available for playback in your own region.
But the routines that add these online content links to a scanned library have no such regional compunctions. They will happily add tons of links for online content that is not really available (online site refuses playback due to region). And since Boxee's menu (the one you described) does not contain those out-of-region sources, it is impossible to get rid of those links.
That will require coding changes in a new firmware version.

I have the same issue. I get online shows listed in the same place as my local shows.
The button at the top right of the main show screen is blank for me. Nothing happens when I click it. I live in Cyprus now, where I assume none of the online sources are available. That's fine by me, but Boxee still lists them as options in the actual episode lists, often messing up the ordering of the episodes.
Edit: Nevermind, looks like this has already been fixed at some point. My guinea pig boxes don't have this issue, only the two I left at 1.2.0 are. Also, I think they're not seeing any channels to filter because my update blocking setup is also blocking the channel list.

No, I'm afraid not. The bug is still rampant in the latest firmware release 1.2.2.20482, which is what I'm using.
For that last it might help if you try other ways of blocking the updates. My guinea pig boxes don't have this issue, only the two I left at 1.2.0 are. Also, I think they're not seeing any channels to filter because my update blocking setup is also blocking the channel list.
A simple IP block for the download server address will block nearly all online access of your box, except for the show/movie 'cover' icons and info texts. Apparently those come from a different IP, but APPs don't, so an IP block for the firmware download also blocks all APPs.
Personally I prefer blocking only the URL used to check the firmware version, since this means that everything else will be unaffected.
So if your router allows you to block specific URL strings you can just tell it to block URLs containing "app.boxee.tv/chkupd/dlink.dsm380", like I do.
I do get the channel lists you mentioned not getting, but that still doesn't fix the main problem of this thread topic, since some of the unwanted online sources are never in those lists, making it impossible to disable their use, like I described in a recent post.

I guess mine was a separate issue then.
Unfortunately, my router seems to truncate the url you gave me to app.boxee.tv. So I'm currently blocking just that along with boxee.iso.
When my boxee boots up, I get a 'cannot connect to internet' message, but most things work fine anyway.
I see. This apparently means that your router doesn't allow blocking of URL substrings, but only allows blocking of the main address part of a URL. Essentially this is the same as IP blocking, except that it looks up the IP address via DNS search for that string, instead of having you enter the IP address in numerical form.
Well, the local SMB playback is not affected, but I think you suffer the same functionality loss that I saw in my own experiments with IP blocking earlier. When my boxee boots up, I get a 'cannot connect to internet' message, but most things work fine anyway.
So you probably have no access to the Boxee APPs at all, and thus no ability to browse internet from the box. But the download of show/movie icon pictures and info should be unaffected, as that is handled by another server, which remains unblocked.
Best regards: Ronald
Four dots brings up a list of online providers/sources. Added in 1.2.0. See thumbnail below.
Remove the <id> tag. Others like the online "fill-in missing data / overwrite with local data" functionality currently in place.Boxee Box needs to stop looking up information when there already is an NFO present.
