Thread: IR Interference with Boxee Box?

  1. #1

Default IR Interference with Boxee Box?

It appears I'm getting some sort of interference with the Boxee Box IR or something is on the fritz.

I have no batteries in any remote controls yet the box randomly turns on, fast-forwards, changes volume etc.

Anyone have any ideas on how to troubleshoot?

Seems to be a recent phenomenon.

    Thanks,

    Hubbard

You don't live in an apartment or anything do you? Off the top of my head, I can only think it might be someone close by with an RF remote... (The Box uses RF so the source of the interference would need to be RF as well...)

I do live in a house with an apartments.

I suppose I have to eliminate possibilities... very odd.

    Thanks for any other advice!

Try pairing the remote to the Boxee Box; step one in Darci's FAQ:

    http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=45042

That'd rule out any chance of a neighbor's remote influencing your Box.

Oh, that's a good idea -- I kept thinking he'd have to track down the culprit and make HIM pair his remote; but the Box should ignore other RF signals once its remote is paired with it, right?
