Quite unlikely imho; youd be better off trying to sell your G5 and upgrade to a newer intel based machine

All this talk about no support for PPC, but does boxee support Tiger with PPC. This is not clear.

Tried to download boxee on my leopard non-Intel mac which I use at home (I have three personal Intel IMACS at school, but they are much too big for my tiny NY apartment).
Will I have to find a Mac Mini on craigslist to use at home?

boxee doesn't support ppc on anything:
    os x (any version)
    playstation 3
    xbox 360
personal: boxee | twitter | boxee hq
boxee: boxee chat | boxee wiki | boxee plugins

i run boxee 0.9.20 on: ubuntu 9.10, windows xp sp3 (virtual machine), windows 7 and a neuros link hacked to all hell.

what super powers does a 'super mod' have? the 'super ban'... that, and laser vision.

parslowd - do yourself a favor and get some kind of intel mac. I didn't till my dual G4 died, but I knew I would have to update my computer sooner or later. More and more only works on the intel macs, not ppc - such as Netflix on-demand.

Boxee is installed on our: Mac Mini Core2Dual/OSX10.5.X, Sony Vio Dual Core Laptop/Windows Vista Home Premium, MacBook Core2Dual/OSX10.5.X (with DD#1 away at college).

so now that xbmc is available for ppc... what are the chances of seeing boxee?

Seconded - now that xbmc runs fine on PPC, will that help get Boxee moving in the right direction? XBMC is OK, but I'm finding the plugins pretty limited. Boxee is obviously a vastly superior product.

And to all the PPC haters who are going to tell me to upgrade already:

I do have a shiny new Intel laptop, but guess what - I don't want to leave it hooked up to my TV all day, I want to use it like a laptop!! Meanwhile, I've got my old iBook G4 with a broken keyboard plugged in and collecting dust behind my TV instead of in a drawer somewhere.

Better off learning to make the most of XBMC. They are not going to prioritize programming Boxee for a dead-end Mac processor type.

Its not as cool looking but since Hulu departed Boxee, I'm loving the bluecop plug-in for XBMC. No commercials. If you start a subscription with Hulu it collects your shows functionally similarly to Boxee subscriptions.

Is there any place to go for information for recycling old Macs into lean, trim OS Linux machines? Like what kind of machine can't you run Linux on? How old is too old?

Gee, thanks for the um.. cryptic? advice. While both my main machines run Linux, I don't think install it on my iBook will convert my processor from PPC to Intel. Am I missing something?

I'll check out the Bluecop app, thanks for that.
