Air Video on iPad and Boxee box

Will this app from the apple app store "Air Video" installed on my iPad work with the Boxee box ?

In other words, does this app allow me to stream my movies to my iPad ?

If yes, how does it communicate with the boxee box ? and I assume there would have to be some conversion taking place on the iPad as it can't play .mkv's ?

thoughts ? suggestions?

Yes though it is independent of the Boxee Box for the most part.

You install the AirVideo server on a computer. You add the folders from your computer (or from shared folders on your network) to the AirVideo server configuration.

On your iOS device, you install the AirVideo app. You run that, it communicates to your AirVideo server, and transcodes the video files that the server knows about (by way of the folders you added to the AirVideo server setup) to play on your iOS device.

If you have a USB drive connected to your Boxee Box that you want to stream from via AirVideo (no idea about how WELL it this would work), you need to 1) enable Windows server on the Boxee Box (Settings>>Network>>Servers) and 2) add those shared folders from the USB drive to the AirVideo server on your computer.

I found it easier to use Buzz HD and set up the Boxee through smb. It seemed to be the only way to stream from my attached usb drives to the iPad.
