Default What NFO file/field is the unique identifier?

I've used Ember Media Manager to create NFO files for my movies. The movies are ripped to .iso files, with one movie and it's associated meta data pre folder.

Ember Media Manager has created both the generic

    movie.nfo

    and

    ActualMovieTitle.nfo

files in the folder. With both present which does the Boxee Box software read?

Also, what field in the NFO files uniquely identifies the movie? For example I have The Abyss.iso and The Abyss Special Features.iso

Both show up in the menu under The Abyss and I have to select the correct file. Ideally, I'd like them to be separate entities listed as

    The Abyss

    and

    The Abyss Special Features.

    Thanks for any help/advice.

    From what I have read:

If you have an ID in your NFOs remove it as it will use the imdb data.

If Movies are in their own folders named as the movie then the movie.nfo will be used... if you had a folder with lots of movies then the moviename.nfo would be used (I suppose that bit is obvious as you can only have one file if its named movie.nfo!).

See here and here for more information.

    Good Luck

I'm experiencing a similar problem with The Blues Brothers. I have both the theatrical and extended director's cut. I'd like them to appear separately in the Movies menu, but they both appear under just one entry.

Both are in their own separate folders with their own NFO files. Boxee groups them both under the "Extended Director's Cut".

I'll have to check the NFO files for IMDB links - I used ViMediaManager to generate the NFOs.

Thank you! That sounds like the information I need. After I roll back the firmware (as the latest doesn't work correctly on my Boxees either) I'll test that and report back. Hopefully today. *knock*on*wood*

Try to log your issues with the new release in jira if you have time before you roll back, if they aren't already recorded. Also get some debug logs.

Hope you find a solution that works for both of you.

    Default Follow-up

I've found a number of things.

First, for whatever reason, just commenting out the id tag in the NFO file doesn't work. I actually had to delete it, which I thought was weird since it's just an xml file. After that deleting the id tag, editing the movie title will get you a separate listing.

Second, you can have either a Movie_Title.nfo or a movie.nfo file. Either works, but don't have both in a folder.

Manually identifying works to get the updated information into the Boxee. I wish there were a way to do this from the files menu.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean about recording at jira. I wouldn't really describe these as bugs, more as implementation issues.

    Thanks for the help.

I forgot to thank you, M1ster_Happy. Removing the IMDb tag from the NFO files worked perfectly for the files I wanted to show as separate listings.
