    Default Coverart

Boxee seems to have no way to change the art for movies that it catalogs into it's database.

Why isn't there an option to override or replace coverart with that of our own choosing ?

I don't know about other users, but a pretty standard way of setting up your movie library is to place each movie in it's own folder with the covert named "folder.jpg".

    I.E. ---->>
    Apaloosa (folder)
    Apaloosa.avi (movie)
    folder.jpg (coverart)

You always have options to modify the coverart in any of the established programs such as XBMC, Meedios or Mediaportal.

Can this be added to Boxee or is it there and I just don't know how to get to it ?

    Many regards,

    Gary Meleski

    Default Cover Art for Music

I have also run into where cover art for an artist does not show up, but when you click on the artist, the cover art for the album shows up. You cannot add an image for cover art for image that does not have cover art.

Either way this is a really nice product , I am enjoying it greatly.

Yes, this is an area where Boxee needs to be completely re-written to allow user intervention and manipulation of the database or however Boxee stores it's data.

Also, it would be nice, if the program parsed out the video file details such as codec, width, height and etc. so a search could be done looking for HD movies. For example add a tag in the search that does :

-----> if size [width >= 1000] then... blah blah this is a HD movie.

Otherwise there is NO way to know if your movie is HD or not with the simple system employed by Boxee.

Not sure about regular XBMC but MyTV plug-in for VMC (http://mytv.senseitweb.com/) IDs HD videos, I think.

I'd be happy if there was just an option to have boxee use the cover art I have in each folder (for movies).

Normally, most HTPC systems would look for a file called "folder.jpg" in the movies folder. For some really unknown reason , Boxee does not even look at this nor does it have an option to cause it to look at this.

Further, there is no means whatsoever to edit the database (or so it seems) to fix these errors.

I understand the need for simplicity, but not at the expense of useability.

    Regards,

    Gary

instead of telling what 'they should be doing' and complaining about missing features, why not focus on what it does do and the buggy feature of that. feature requests should be put in that appropriate forum.

your opinion on 'making this best software' really isn't relevant. if you want it better, develop it yourself.

Ummm ... ok. "What they should be doing" and "missing features" sounds like feature requests to me. Not many of us are developers so we're just trying to let the devs know what features we would value. Let us talk it out and then one of us can add it to the feature requests.

I agree. I should be allowed to change any data not just box art. I have a few season of the xfiles that aren't recognized and the only way I can watch them is through the browse menu. I tried to use the recognize function but it didnt come up with anything. I should be able to add my own data to get it to be available in the TV menu.

You are right. No question about it. I guess that the Coverart issue is not a bug. That is the way the Boxee programmers want it.

    Well, good luck with that.

As far as not being relevant, I think I am at a software forum where my opinion was asked for because I got an invite.

You thin skinned posers really need to go to another forum and cry.

    Regards,

    Gary
