Default Flash Player 10 for Boxee Box

    Hello All,

I have just turned on boxee box to watch ITV Player content through a VPN on Saturday 15 August 2011 and received the message that content is not available until I update to flash player 10. I actually watch ITV live rugby this morning with no problem and updated the latest boxee box version 2 or 3 days ago.

My questions are: Is it possible to update to flash player 10 and how?
Does the OS not include the latest flash and if not when will we see this?

Thanks for your advice in advance,

    Sam

No users cannot update the flash version unfortunately.

A fix is in the works but there's not ETA.

Thumbs down bye bye boxee box?!

well from the looks of it the issue with the lack of Flash player 10 for bb has been going on for a couple of months... and still no mention of a solution.

users are becoming more aware of the issue as their favorite sites to stream from are making the switch to flash player 10

no more 4OD, no more itv player, no doubt globally more players will become available as time goes on.

What a major dissapointment and waste of money, nice while it lasted though, I live in Canada and have been using bb with vpn to stream uk tv, now it just sits on the shelf and I have to plug my laptop into the tv, just like I used to.

Team boxee shouldn't be so behind on these things. We look to them to take care of these things and look ahead not play catch up months later.

Boxee management doesn't seem to know what they're doing these days. Boxee in general is great its just with bugs coming and going in every release and being behind in areas as critical as flash I'm starting to lose faith in boxee.

    Default Seriously hopeful...

There's way too much speculation on these forums but I think that's because of the fact that there is a real lack in communication FROM the Boxee team. Us users can spit out all sorts of information, right and wrong, but we rarely see a statement of truth confirming or denying what someone has posted.

    Mini Rant:
The other day my father asked about my Boxee Box and how it was treating me. A while ago, I tried to get him into the idea of stopping his cable and saving some money telling him that I "had it made" and was loving Boxee.

He wanted to watch a college football game and I told him that, currently, it was not possible because the system needed to be updated. He said, can you update it before the game? I told him it was something the developers had to fix. Strike 1.

I had bought a second boxee box for my bedroom and he asked if I enjoyed that too... I told him it wasn't working yet because my Dell monitor wasn't able to work with a DVI to HDMI cable. Strike 2.

We then tried to stream a movie from my computer which was in the room next to the Boxee and it buffered every minute or two. Strike 3.

    The Hidden Hand:
Their software bug report system is a double edged sword. First, it enables us to post our issues/concerns/bugs and we can keep an eye on it, but second, it also allows us to see that they have a LOT of work that they've not done. We see that as them slacking off, they need to be monitoring that and administering it 24/7 if it's going to be THAT exposed. Simple things like "Hey guys, we're still looking into this, hold tight" or "Thanks for your patience, this one is being stubborn".

Keep us in the loop, man!
I have not lost faith in Boxee at all, I still love the box, but I'm a techy guy and it's a lot of work to get it to do what I want (when it will let me). Something just needs to change. Those blog posts, firmware versions, bug fixes, and announcements are too few and far between...

Default ITV may not work but check out STV

I thought viewers of ITV Player may be pleased to know that the ITV sister station in Scotland, STV, and its apply named STV Player is still working on Boxee. It has the same content as ITV, AFAIK, and has a much better user interface.

Don't think there's an app for it, I have to access it through the bing search page.

    Default stv player

Thanks so much for this tip! Am now enjoying Harry Hill and Xfactor on my boxee, quality not so great but at least it works well!

I had to ditch the www's from the address to get the browser to connect...

Wow, some of you people really want the ability to update flash on your own? Some of you can't even handle doing it on your PC so how to you expect the Boxee team to let you do it on the closed box???
