No, I think not. Not for this release anyway. In your changelog for this firmware, as stated in your release post, there is NOT ONE SINGLE CHANGE CONCERNING SMB USAGE, relative to the two previous release candidates which both have completely broken SMB password authorization negotiation.
These recent firmware versions can ONLY work with such SMB servers that happen to have your (incorrectly implemented) single authorization method as the default, since these versions of Boxee firmware no longer negotiate properly to find what authorization methods the servers allow.
These problems have been reported repeatedly both by myself and by others, and your release of a supposedly 'stable' firmware with this still unfixed is nothing short of an insult to all who suffer from these problems.
The only new changes I could see for this new release were some audio dropout fixes. And while these may make a few users happy, they are no replacement for completely broken SMB access...
But for me this is a huge step backwards, as I can no longer use the current stable firmware, since it allows proper connection only to one of the three SMB servers in my LAN.syncing, and streaming issues. We know there’s still issues to conquer, but we feel this release is a huge step in the right direction.
So I am now going to have to block further upgrade access in my router, to prevent near total functionality loss of my Boxee Box, which must remain on firmware 1.2.0.20310 in order to access most of my SMB fileshares. (The one and only purpose for which I bought the box.)
IMO: This firmware version should never have been released as non-beta !!!
