    Default Support for Ultraviolet?

With Ultraviolet officially launching tomorrow, I was wondering if the Boxee Box (or Boxee, in general) will support this next-gen digital copy format?

It's not compatible with iOS, so supporting it could give Boxee an edge over AppleTV.

Sounds like more DRM crap, so no than you.

So that being said I highly highly doubt it!!!!

Probably would require a hardware change just like Apple devices would.

    From their website directly...

"UltraViolet is the online digital library that frees you to choose how and where you want to enjoy your movies and TV shows. It's so easy to use."

The problem is this is the biggest lie out these people are coming up with... if you clearly read the service available, if anything UltraViolet is clearly the opposite of what they claim to be... you can play movies from them all right... just not on an iPhone or iPad!!

Why would people pay full price for limited rights and streaming of a movie?? The business model seems like if children played the same movie over and over again, that eventually bandwidth costs would go up for using this service over X amount of times. I see price changes coming sooner than later.

And don't forget you are limited to only 12 devices total with only 3 playing at the same time.

Even worse, after a year goes by you may loose access completely to the files you already purchased if you don't pay a maintenance fee.

Ugh! Lame! Sucks! Next! Move on! No thanks! Back the the drawing board! Idiots! Etc.!!!

Default Ultraviolet at 800k registered lockers

I ran across this article today and the first thing I thought was "FINALLY, someone gets it... my content in the cloud!" The second thing was "Does Boxee support it?"

Techcrunch talks with Ultraviolet at CES

I'm lazy. I don't like to manage my content on large disk arrays.. At least from now on, when I buy a movie, I can look for an Ultraviolet option and know it will be in the cloud.

Looks like there are many big name players involved.

Has anyone found something better that integratee Boxee with a cloud storage solution for your movies?

    Also from the article:
But so far it seems most of those accounts are just testing the waters, as iSupply notes that the average account has 1.25 titles.

The fact that the question needs to be asked shows how pointless the system is.

How they think they can free it up and compete with torrents while still having restrictions is beyond me.
