On exiting a stream/played file there is still a delay from sound 2-7 seconds easy.

The entire UI Freezes on exit of a stream and then you get no sound from the UI on navigation for many seconds.

WMV, not fixed, still not synced here, but it plays which is an improvement.
MP4, depends on the file and the state of Boxee. A cold boot fixes this.

That's all I have for now Marcel, gnight.

marcel, I think it's safe to say that every single user of boxee box has noticed a severe drop in quality since 1.2. Was the code completely re-written between 1.1 & 1.2?

This has been happening for a long time.

I'm sure it affects most people, but I also suspect that most people wouldn't complain about it. Which is something to keep in mind if you ever see someone write "my Boxee Box doesn't have any problems" - most people just never see or simply accept some of the problems that exist as "normal."

When you exit playback, Boxee must stop playback immediately, not continue to play the video for any amount of time. Is there a Jira ticket for this?

This release is also plagued with audio dropouts of legacy and HD audio formats. You guys need to take this problem seriously. To even consider publicly releasing a firmware in this condition is a shame.

    Marcel-

I have never had a problem connecting to SMB shares, but I do have a problem with an incredible amount of buffering (every 10 - 30 seconds) with the newest firmware.

    My setup:

Server: Vostro 420 Desktop with Intel 8200 Quad Core, Vista 32bit, 4GB Memory, 6 TB of drive space (WD 2TB Drives), connected directly to router via Gigabit

    Router: ASUS Black Diamond (rt-n56u)

Boxee connected via Powerline (Netgear XAV5001). Current speed 271mb/s between adapters

My Boxee is connected through Powerline to the router and the server is connected via gigabit connection to the router. Boxee is connected to server shares via SMB. I have no problems seeing/adding any shares from the server, even in the 1.2 version of the firmware. My only issue is the buffering (every 10-30 seconds), and it occurs whether I am connected wirelessly or through the Powerline adapters. While the buffering occurs my server is not taxed at all - the CPU cores are at 1%, network at 20-30mb/s, hard drive at 3-4MB.

I can fix the buffering issue by reverting back to the v1.1.3.19252 (June 25th) version of the firmware. When I do so the buffering is gone and blurays stream flawlessly. I can even stream blurays wirelessly.

I would be happy to assist in any way to help resolve this issue. I can provide logs if necessary, whether from the Boxee or server side, or any other information you require. There seem to be many people on this forum I have helped resolve their buffering issues by reverting to older firmware versions, so I know this is a widespread issue.

    Thanks!

Common give marcel some slack, I'm glad there is actually some conversation between the community and team boxee now. Cheerful to see wmv/mms streaming has been worked on. I will test the firmware tonight.

So he can isolate the source of the problem. Not everyone's SMB environment is the same. For example, my shares are all on a WHS ("a computer") and I don't have any SMB access/streaming problems. Apparently you do so providing information about your problems/environment (XP, W7? NAS??) will help get it resolved.

The Oct 4th RC didn't improve my SMB situation which is the same as before, ReadyNAS VX+ with the simplest security model on the shares, no password or user needed to access them. They do work if I enter the share name as the user and empty password, but this is still a regression from the old code where this was not necessary. Now it also doesn't remember the username I enter...

Sorry, but what is telling you this speed? That seems pretty optimistic. My own experience of powerline adapters (I'm a network engineer) is that they are very hit and miss and speeds will always be dependant on interference plus a whole host of other issues. A mobile phone charger, a cfl bulb or computer psu can completely block the signal. If the regulators were doing their job they would be all illegal as the are really using an illegal radio transmission and not the mains wiring to connect. They are also offered for testing singly without any data transfer in order to pass CE regulations, they should be tested in pairs, in a household situation with data transfer, then they would fail to comply.

Connect by ethernet and see if you're still having problems.

I also have this issue or at least close to.
I'm connected wirelessly and experience buffering on and off. Especially when the box has been running for some hours.
Also I always seem to experience slight studdering compared to my Bluray player.
