Hi.
Just wanted you to know.
I've been struggling like the last 3 weeks with an addon for the Boxee Box.
Writing it in XML and Python (both I'm fairly fluent in) - but I kept bumping my head into stupid BOxee Box errors (PushState, animation, visibility, player-state, Back-key etc.) - as some of my more (or less) diplomatic posts may have suggested
Now I started writing the addon in HTML5 instead.
I thought: "Well... I need a client-side app, how would HTML allow me that", but... it rocks!
In ½ a day - without ANY knowledge of HTML5 (my experience dates back to HTML 3.2 ;-) - I have some GUI stuff ready, with nice animations etc.
Refs:
- Editor: Aptana Studio 3 (http://aptana.org/products/studio3) - free and awesome
- HTML5 browser: Chrome + WebKit (since webkit should be the boxee flavor) (http://www.webkit.org/)
- HTML5 intro Blog (http://developer.boxee.tv/blog/tag/html5/)
- HTML5 intro + demo (http://slides.html5rocks.com/#css-transforms)
- JavaScript stuff: http://jquery.com/ & http://www.modernizr.com/
Now I just need to figure out how to remove all the garbage python test-apps my Boxee insists are still installed on it (which even a factory restore didn't remove).
