A very basic question re:streaming

Hi all, I am considering getting a Boxee Box but I can't work out whether it will do what I want it to do. Can anyone confirm whether you can stream from a HD connected to a Boxee Box to another machine connected on the network. I can see that you can stream from another source (i.e laptop, Ipad etc) to the box but I can't understand whether I could stream from the box to, for example, my laptop.

Also I understand you can't yet stream from a BB to an Ipad but what about an Android phone. Would this be possible?

I like the idea of the box but unless I can stream from it to another device it doesn't give me much benefit over having my HD connected to my PS3 and watching stored movies on my HDTV that way.

Yes you can stream from a HDD (2TB only) connected to BoxeeBox via SMB. Any device which supports SMB shares can access HDD connected to BB .

Yes, typically you can though there are few networking issues that may need to be worked out on the latest firmware release (1.2.x).

Not to another device like that. But if you have an external USB connected to the Box, then it's possible to access the media on the drive from other computers on your network.
