This message randomly popped up when attempted to watch a movie on a shared folder.
Before this everything had run fine.
I have rescanned my shared folders once, but this didn't do the trick.
Any ideas?

Have you recently updated to version 1.2.0? And if so, did this message start after the update? In which case, you've run into issues related to SMB introduced in the update.
You can try manually updating to beta release that is meant to address these issues ("firmware beta" sticky near the top of the forum).
If none the above applies to you, let us know more about your set up (how you're adding sources to Boxee, what OS/NAS those sources are on, etc)

I updated to 1.2.0.20310 fairly recently, but I was still able to access my shared folder just fine, up until now.
I will give the beta a shot.
I have my a couple of drives on a comp (Windows 7 Home Premium)set on a network share.
Installed the beta fw. Rebooted comp and Boxee Box again. Everything is working just as it was meant to.
Thanks darcilicious.

Thanks for the tip.
I have this exact problem under MAC OS Lion. I have upgraded to the beta firmware mentioned here, and rebooted both systems, but to no avail. Ican't access my shared folder through the TV Shows or Movies selections from the main menu tabs.

Same problem here.
I upgraded to the public release and everything was fine and working as it had prior to the update.
Now, my PC with smb shared files no longer shows up on the boxee box.
I tried the new update manually and nothing has changed (yep, I rebooted the boxee).
If I try to add new source the PC doesn't show up under Windows Network (SMB). If I try to manually enter the IP or network name/UN/PW it still won't find it.
Any ideas?
Win7 64bit
Try this it worked for me...

I think it has something to do with removing all your shares, the HOMEGROUP LINK, and the FILE SOURCE location on the BOXEE, then reloading them from scratch.
The HOMEGROUP in Windows 7 x64 bit is what the Boxee 1.2 has trouble re-mapping.
Cheers
