    Talking Found a solution to pause not working in hulu

    Hi everyone, if your using the latest Windows version of boxee version 0.9.7.4825 you can get the pause on all online videos to work by changing the compatibility mode of the program. I have tested this solution with Windows Vista Ultimate Service Pack 1 PC and on a Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 PC. Here are the steps:

    1. right click on the shortcut or executable
    2. clicking properties
    3. then click compatibility
    4. then check the run this program in compatibility mode check box
    5. then choose windows 95 from the drop list
    6. click apply
    7. finally click OK and run boxee like you normally do.

    One note however, though the pause works the pause is a bit sluggish in responsiveness on hulu sometimes where you may have to press the pause key or click the pause button on the screen twice to make it pause and sometimes it may just slow down the video first and then do a full pause a few seconds later and thus not an instant pause. But I have only found a problem on hulu. All the rest CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Joost, etc. all seem to pause normally with no problems.

    Hopes this helps people who are using the Windows version be able to pause their videos and help boxee figure why pause does not work right in windows off the start.

    Default No go

    This solution did not work at all for me, nor do I see why it should.

    Can you do us all a favor and post your system specs, OS, what you're using to control boxee, and double check it with and without 95 support again. I'd like to note that Joost pause already worked for me, and that I only tested this with Hulu.

    hulu is the only one that is 'broken'...
    the rest either: 'work', or are: 'net yet supported'.
    personal: boxee | twitter | boxee hq
    boxee: boxee chat | boxee wiki | boxee plugins

    i run boxee 0.9.20 on: ubuntu 9.10, windows xp sp3 (virtual machine), windows 7 and a neuros link hacked to all hell.

    what super powers does a 'super mod' have? the 'super ban'... that, and laser vision.

    Here are the specs of my HTPC I tested this on:

    * Intel Q6600 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Quad Processor
    * ASUS P5N-D Motherboard
    * Super Talent 4 GB 6400 DDR2 RAM
    * EVGA Geforce 8500GT HDCP Video Card with 512 MB RAM
    * LG Combo bluray Reader and DVD-RW Drive with Lightscribe
    * 2 x 1 TB Hard Drives in a RAID 0 Config
    * 1 x 200 GB ATA 133 Hard Drive (for music and video storage)
    * 1 x 80GB SATA II Hard Drive (have windows installed here)
    * 4 x ATSC/QAM HDTV Tuners
    * 1 x NTSC Analog TV Tuner
    * USB Wireless G Ethernet Adapter
    * Onboard Gigabit LAN
    * Onboard Realtek HD Audio 8 Channels with Optical and Coaxinal SPDIF Connectors
    * Logitech Wireless Keyboard and Mouse
    * Microsoft MCE Remote
    * XBOX 360 Universal Media Remote
    * ATX Tower Case with 500 WATT Power Supply
    * Sony 5.1 Dolby Digital/DTS Reciever 100 WATT Per Channel With 100 WATT Micro Satellite Speakers and 100 WATT Subwoofer
    * Toshiba 50" Theater Wide Projection HDTV Monitor Running Boxee and Vista MCE at 1080i Resolution Through Component Video
    * Sony VCR
    * Toshiba DVD Player
    * Toshiba HDTV Reciever

    I run Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 with the TV Pack 2008 version of Vista Media Center with the Arcsoft bluray playback plugin, XBMC, several web browsers and Boxee. All accessible with remote control and integrated to work seamlessly.

    I also tested this on my a PC at my work with a hewlett packard brand with these specs:

    • AMD phenom 9500 2.2GHZ processor
    • 3 GB Ram
    • Geforce 8500GT Graphics
    • 750gb Hard Drive
    • DVD-RW Drive
    • Onboard Realtek Sound and LAN
    • Wired keyboard and mouse

    I have no clue why that worked for me on these two pc's but not others however I did not have any pause at all until this worked where soem of yous had pause on all but hulu maybe it's because i had no pause at all that it worked.

    Default Boxee / Hulu Pause

    I've been testing boxee for the last week on Ubuntu 8.10 Pentium Core 2 Duo tower, 1 GB of ram with a 512 MB NVIDIA card outputing to HDMI. Mostly all I do is stream video off the net (hulu, cbs, cnn, etc...) but this is the only bug I can consistantly reproduce after I kill pulseaudio. Pretty awesome for alpha!
