Default Please help Boxee 1.2 update: catastrophic failure

Hi, would really appreciate some help!

After going through the forced update to the latest fw (i think it said 1.2) my boxee will not run it plays the opening logo then the screen goes black, the box then will not respond at all.

    Its completely unusable now

    Any suggestions?

    thanks

    Sorry for the inconvenience..

Please go to the recovery mode (Power off Boxee then Power up the Boxee Box by pressing and holding the power button for 6-10 seconds. Upon release, the Box will boot with the logo turned orange. )

Select Reset all settings and then login again ..

If you know the boxee box IP can you see if there are any boxee logs generated you could send me ?

thanks for responding, held the power button down for 10 seconds, the box is now flashing red/green and the box seems to be stuck at the 'loading' message screen.

hopefully this is just me being clumsy, do i hold down the power untill the box turns orange then release, or release it after 8 seconds with then expect the logo to turn orange?

edit 1 pulled power cord, waited 30 secs, held power button down for 8 secs:

it is now flashing red x3 and green x1 before repeating the sequence, and still hangs at the loading screen

edit 2 second attempt got to the recovery screen, reset all settings and rebooted, seems to be working, its just booted so ive not tested everything.

thanks for your assistance. much appreciated

With respect to the other complaints about probs after forced fw updates and the whole slew of issues i noticed last time this happen can i suggest that fw updates are now optional whenever possible?

i would like to avoid having to worry every time a new update is released, in the event of it breaking the unit.

    thanks

I've got the same issue and I keep trying to do what your saying Marcel and it's not working at all

pull power cord wait 30s, plug power cord back in, hold power down for 8 seconds and release - correct?

    thanks

I'm not Marcel (lucky me! ) but that is the correct procedure. You may be looking at failed hardware and an RMA. You should probably get in touch with Boxee support directly.
