Just wanted to say thanks to tmiranda and any other devs that are working on this. Adds great functionality to the boxee box, if you guys get live tv working the WAF would be 100%.

Also, noticed that when you try to watch a show thats got the 'watched' flag it quits to sagetv menu after a few seconds, clear the flag, bam! you can watch your show.

Thanks to everyone involved in getting this app to where it is today. I've installed on a Windows machine, and it's working very well. I've got my Streamzap remote set up to control Boxee with Girder, so it's a pretty usable client.

I know others have asked for LiveTV, and that would be great. However, what I would like even before that is the ability to sort the list of Recordings (show names) by most recent recordings. So that if the last thing recorded was an episode of Community, then Community would appear at the top of the list of shows.

    Keep up the great work!

Default Sage Recordings in Boxee Box Interface

Hello, I am a new boxee box user. I am working on the conversion from SageTV since the google buyout and uncertainty surrounding it's future.

I like my boxee box so far, what I would really like is to be able to stop using my SageTV extenders completely, unless maybe I want to watch live tv. (until the sagetv app for boxee gets that capability)

Not surprisingly by any member of this thread, the recorded file names from Sage are not in the proper format for boxee to categorize. What I am really interested in is whether this or other software can just go in and make the sage recordings understandable to the boxee box media scanner.

My goal is to make it simple for my family to get to all of the boxee features, and to seamlessly watch recorded shows from my sage tv server on the boxee interface. Having a Sage-like app is nice, but not really necessary if the shows just work like everything else in boxee.

I can train the family on a new paradigm for getting to shows, but having to say something like "Certain shows are under 'shows' on boxee, but for these other shows you have to go to the SageTV app" is really not ideal.

    Does this capability exist?

There are two routes to take, the first only works for movies I believe and the second should work for both movies and TV.

For the first approach with movies, you can create NFO files that Boxee will use to identify the movie and place it in the Movies screen.

I don't think this will work for TV shows because SageTV dumps all recordings into the same folder and for TV shows, you need a more prescribed folder structure (e.g. TV Show Name (folder) >> Season (folder, optional maybe) >> TV Shows Episodes (files) for NFO / Boxee to work well in identifying shows.

[alternatively you might be able create a SQJ thingie to move and re-import TV shows, using the correct folder/file structure but I haven't looked into that very far myself]

The second approach involves creating symbolic links with the proper folder/naming structure. There's an XBMC script that does this now that I think works. http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=27897 -- note that the script has the option of re-encoding the files for archiving but you don't have to use that option.

(For TV shows, it's now possible to have SageTV to include the season/episode in the file name so that might help moving forward though I haven't tested how well it works with Boxee).

I just wondered what the status of livetv was on the boxee box...

I still can't get s suitable path - (now running 1.5) so i can't play recordings or live tv.

i'm willing to reset my boxee to defaults if there is a known way of sorting what i assume is a user/permissions issue ?

Sage Server is windows server 2008 R2.

a step by step would be fantastic as i've tried twice but failed.

Live tv sort of works for me, streams from both of my sources in sage ( hdhomerun, and hdpvr) startup fine after about 2 seconds then I get about 5-10 seconds content/show and the stream stops and quits back to the guide and about 5 seconds later a notification window shows up that says the media failed to load. The app never quits and I've tried this about 5-6 times in a row with identical results.

    Running 1.5 boxee box release.

The unc path thing was a 3hr hair-pulling session for me but in the end it was sharing permissions issues (or lack thereof) that was my issue.

Keep up the great work! Than you

Hey guys, I'm new to boxee. I just bought one today to try out the sage app but I'm having a problem. My sage server is set up using UNC file shares to both my recording directories and I've got guest read access set up to both but I still seem to receive "The Media souce of file is not accessible" error. Any thoughts?

    Cheers,
