    Default SageTV App for Boxee

I know this is an old post, but a group of us are working on a SageBoxee app so you can use Boxee as a front end to Sage. We've got a POC working, but it's not real fancy right now.

    Repo is here: http://sagetv-boxee.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/repo/

and then install "SageTV for Boxee".

This is VERY early stuff (so no need to post here about visual elements that are not right) but you should be able to browse your TV recordings and play them. If you can't, please let me know.

You must first install the sagex-services on your Sage server.

The first time you launch the app it will prompt you for the Sage server name and port, jetty user name, and jetty password. I strongly suggest using the IP of your server and not the network name. You can change the settings from Setup->Boxee.

If your sage recordings do not use UNC paths you will need to enter mapping information. To do that go to Settings->Boxee. The format is

    d:,//hostname/path;y:,//hostname/anotherpath

If your recordings do not play try replacing hostname with the actual IP address.

The only menu that does anything (besides Settings->Boxee) is "TV". It will bring up a malore style browser with the show names in the left pane and the episodes in the right. You'll notice that when you navigate in the left pane the right pane does not change. To update the right pane press enter in the left pane. I'm trying to figure out how to update the right pane automatically but so far I have been unsuccessful.

Like I said, this is a very early POC.

Can you explain this a little more?

I record from my HTPC but the recordings are stored over the network on my WHS. The HTPC uses \\server\videos\sagetv to store the recordings.

From Boxee, I can see all the recordings fine but when I select one to play, I get:

    Playback Error
The media source or file is not accessible.

I'm also running this on the Box v1.2.0.20277 (RC2)

If you have Sage setup to record to UNC paths and the Box can see the recordings you do not need to worry about the mapping and it should work. Can you send me the logfile?

My Box is running the latest non-beta software so that my be an issue. (I haven't worked up the nerve to install the RC.)

For others who may need the mapping:

Let's suppose you have the Sage recording directory setup to be D:\sagetv\recordings. In order to let the box access the recordings you would need to:
    - Share the recordings dir as "SomeShare".
    - Enter the following into the remap field "d:\\sagetv\recordings,\\hostname\SomeShare"

    Thanks for the expanded explanation

I'll get the logs to you shortly, via PM okay?

(Latest RC2 seems relatively stable and it's easy to back out to the previous, stable release)

Whatever is the most acceptable way on these forums. I'm the new kid on the block so I'll just go with the flow.

Do you have your Sage recording dirs setup using UNC paths "\\server\videos\sagetv" or do you have it setup using x:\videos\sagetv? I just re-read your post and want to make sure it's the former and not the latter.

    Definitely \\server\videos\sagetv

Working on the logs right now.

Log file attached here. tried movies/shows: a knight's tale, an episode from a tv show "chaos", and the movie "chaplin".

Boxee's code for SMB was overhauled in v1.2.x -- don't discount that we may have uncovered a new smb-related bug.

I'll rollback to the last stable release and see what happens.

This seems to be the relevant portion of the log:

Assuming the smb: is correct it should work. Maybe a permissions error? What OS is the server running? Are the thumbnails getting generated? (It looks to me like the answer is no. I'm assuming if the Box can generate the thumbnails it can access the video file and vice versa.)

One strange thing I noted on my system, which may or may not provide some clues, is that when the Box is turned on I can't browse my network and have to use IP addresses instead of network names. Maybe this is preventing Boxee from resolving your shares names into an IP address? From another computer on the network can you ping babyface?
