Default Boxee Box remote stopped working

    Hi everyone,

Last December, I got my D-Link Boxee Box and loved it from the start.

Since a week or two, my Boxee Box remote doesn't react anymore (or the Box doesn't react TO the remote anymore). I changed the batteries (multiple times), but seems to be no way of pairing the remote. It's a pity, because this smart remote is one of the features I really love about the Box.

Does somebody know where I can find the solution to this problem?

    All my best,
    Domien -- Holland

It sounds as though your remote has 'died' -- double check all you have done and if it still does not work, an RMA is most likely in order

If it comes to that, you can still operate the BBox with a wireless keyboard and mouse (or a wired combo also) - unless D-Link wants to RMA both the BBox and the remote

Hm, it really died, yeah? That's a quicky. ATM, I use the iPhone/iPad controller, but still.. this (broken) remote is kind of a dealbreaker.

Hey Domien. Was wondering when you would get around to posting about your remote problem.

This thread here has a more detailed set of troubleshooting approaches, some of which seem to work.

    http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=24042

Also check the Jira ticket on this issue:

    http://jira.boxee.tv/browse/BOXEE-7761

One of the issues that continues to arise is that people with remote problems are also often using the iPhone Boxee remote application. It is possible is that it causes some kind of conflict that locks out the Boxee remote. Quite often, a full hardware reset of the box back to virgin status gets the remote back to working normally.

If those threads do not solve your problem, you will have to RMA your unit.

I'm sorry, I will asap! Gonna check out the links you posted, although, I think I already tried a lot of the given solutions.

I actually use the iPhone-remote.. I already did when the remote DID work. So, maybe that could've caused the problem, yeah?

Again: will check it all out (later this week).

That's my guess. It seems to come up for a few people. If it's not the battery being dead or losing contact, this is the most likely cause of the problem.

Please try a full factory reset on the box and see if that does the trick.

Yeah, 'bout that.. I need my remote to perform a full factory reset. So, what now?

If you have a USB keyboard, try plugging it into one of the USB ports. That may allow you to do the reset without requiring the remote (navigate the options with the arrow keys).
