Thread: What to do when video has 2 parts

Default What to do when video has 2 parts

I'm testing version 0.97. My "2046" (2004 movie) wasn't recognized so I added it myself. However, this is a 2cd movie:
    2046.2004.RETAiL.DVDRip.XviD-TLF-CD1
    2046.2004.RETAiL.DVDRip.XviD-TLF-CD2

When I'm adding the first CD, it doesn't give me the option of saying it's the 1st part of the film, so I end up having to recognize the 2nd cd as well and I'm not able to play them as a continuous movie.

Bare in mind the names of the files I mentioned in my original post. They are already in the required format. What I said was that, even with those suffixes, the files are not categorized as 2 parts of the same film.

seems like there is a lot of superfluous info in that file name... i would bring it down a bit, to give boxee's regex the best chance.

i run boxee 0.9.20 on: ubuntu 9.10, windows xp sp3 (virtual machine), windows 7 and a neuros link hacked to all hell.

what super powers does a 'super mod' have? the 'super ban'... that, and laser vision.

I already did that, which lead me to another error:
1)I changed the name of a file in my system
    2) on boxee, when I try to remove it (wrong movie - remove), it doesn't get removed

I end up with 4 files inside the 2046 folder of boxee, and 2 of those links don't work

how long did you give boxee to remove it? it will take a bit for boxee to notice the old files are gone.

I have noticed that when the files are named correctly, but when they are in their own subfolder, that they are added as 1 movie to my database. But when I choose the movie, it will not take me to the PLAY or READ MORE page, but show me the movie name twice, which both direct to the seperate parts.

    example

    \moviefolder\CD1\movie-cd1.avi
    .\CD2\movie-cd2.avi

why is it that XBMC handles this stuff with no problem? and Boxee doesn't?

An easy option would be to stick the two files together using Virtualdub, there are some guides online if you need help.

    Thanks,

Try "Fast AVI MGEG Joiner" - when I have to, I use it and it works great!

    Default solution?

When I move the files into one movie folder, the problem seems solved. It plays the first part and automatically follows through with the second part.

    so it woud look like:

    \moviename\moviename.cd1.avi
    \moviename\moviename.cd2.avi

this is treated as one movie by Boxee.

So no need to join files etc.
