Default Problems with remote control and Boxee Box

    I have the following problem.
I start my boxee box by pressing the button on my remote and the boxee box starts. That works. But sometimes I am not able to navigate the menus with my remote once the boxee box has started.
I have to unplug the power supply or switch the boxee box off by pressing the button on the box and start the box again. Sometimes it works or I have to reboot the system again.
I tried to pair the remote control again. It doesn't help.
I resetted the box to factory defaults and tried it again. Same problem.

I have this problems since 2 weeks.
Is it a problem with the latest firmware or is it the remote? By the way I replaced the batteries of the remote. It doesn't help.

    Thanks

hmm.. i would try to go back to an earlier firmware and if it still happens, then you know its a hardware problem. How long have you had the box?

    Hello

I have the box since April. I have the problem since 1-2 weeks.
Where can I download an old firmware ?

    Thanks.

Check this is not related to the problem in some remotes of the battery compartment door not locking properly and sometimes causing the battery to detach from the contacts. There is a thread on the forums somewhere about it. Try pressing in the battery door to see if it helps when the remote seems to cut out. Since it's not batteries, and because the remote seems to function fine intermittently, I suspect this is the problem.

Thanks for the tips. I tried to pair the remote and boxee box, but nothing happend. The problem is mostly on the first start when the system was shutdown for a while. Then I have the problems. If I unplug the power supply or restart the system then it works very often.
Where can I download an old firmware? I think this is the problem, because I have this problem only since the last 1-2 weeks. Or should I try the new RC firmware?

    Thanks

Either the firmware fixes the problem COMPLETELY, or it's probably not a firmware problem. Give the firmware downgrade a shot, but if the issues continue, my guess is there is some kind of hardware issue with the remote, or possibly the transceiver in the box.

Another thought is to check RF-related reception issues between your remote and your box. Are there issues with distance between the two? Do you have your box inside a metal stereo rack? Are you trying to communicate through a lead shield? Does your sweat have super-high electrical conductivity? Do you have your microwave oven sitting next to your Boxee Box? In other words, is there any RF noise or shielding in your room/building that could be interfering with your setup?

...Might I add that some stock batteries that people received in their Boxee Box remotes were dead on arrival, or weak even. Have you tried replacing the battery yet? Something on your list of troubleshooting to try.

If you don't want to buy the battery to see if it's a winner or not, try borrowing your battery from your garage door remote or a spare computer with the same model battery as you have now.

As the guys say change the batteries if you're a heavy user, if you drop it a lot you'll probably need a new remote. Alternatively which I have done and no one suggested, hook up a cheap USB Keyboard.

    Hello

thanks for the tips. But nothing helps. If the problem occurs I tried to replace the battery with a new one ( I tested both the old and new one both are OK )
, I tried to pair the remote to the box. Nothing. Even if I hold the remote next to the box. If I switch off the box for a few seconds and switch it on again, then it works. I couldn't imagine there are any interferences in my room, because it worked for nearly 3-4 month without any problems and I changed nothing.
Where can I download an old version of the firmware? Because if I try a factory reset and reboot the boxee I always have to update to the newest firmware.

    Thanks
