VOB playback stutters and audio off

I am running the latest version of Boxee on a 1.86MHz Mac mini. When I play DVD VOBs from an external hard drive, the video stutters (looks like stop motion video) and the audio is slightly delayed. When I play the same VOBs through the Mac DVD player, it looks fine and the audio is fine.

I am experiencing a similar problem with stuttering video streaming from an NAS. I am using a MacBook Pro, 2GHz Core Duo, 1.5 GB Memory, Radeon X1600. The videos are H.264 encoded, but they play perfectly fine on on the same mac or my desktop using VLC. The interesting thing is that the stuttering, which happens with both the video and audio, seems to occur 20-30 seconds into any of these videos.

Please help! I am a first time user and have already had to get past the "purple mask" problem. The application as a whole looks awesome though!
