Thumbs up [BETA UPADTE] Ultimate Remote Guide for Windows

    Hey everyone,

This post is for you if you want to get your remote control working 100% with Boxee (Source code is attached). It has the added benifit of working with PowerDVD 9 for blu-ray playback. The following configuration, by default, will make Boxee work with Microsoft MCE remotes. If you want support for more, just PM me.

    Buttons which work:

    • Power Button calls up the power menu
    • Up / Down / Left / Right
    • Select
    • Back
    • Play / Pause
    • Pause
    • Stop
    • Channel Up / Down control skipping lists
    • Skip forward / backward perform big step forward / backward
    • Fast forward / backward perform small step forward / backward
    • Number 5 will stop Power DVD 9 (if running) and start or restart boxee (Full Screen)
    • Number 6 will stop Boxee (if running) and start or restart Power DVD 9 (Full Screen)

All you need to make this work is the following:

Now, you have all of these, follow these instructions!

    INSTALL IR
    1. Plug your IR receiver into your PC / HTPC
    2. Extract the replacement driver from Media-Portal's web-site.
    3. Delete all .bat and .ini files which don't match your OS
    4. Run 'install_%OS%_x86.bat' as an Administrator
    5. Restart your machine

NOTE: If the above did not work, try to manually select the driver from device manager

    Download Support Files
    1. Download BetaConfiguration.zip
    2. Ensure the files extract to C:\HTPCHelper

INSTALL EVENTGHOST (Updated for Boxee Beta)
    1. Install EventGhost
    2. Click File->Open
    3. Open C:\HTPCHelper\EventGhost.xml
    4. Click File->Options
    5. Check 'Launch on Windows Startup'
    6. Click OK
    7. Click Save

Don't forget to minimize EventGhost, and not to close it

    START BOXEE
    ENJOY

is the replacment driver required, or can you use the newer method:
EDIT: I've detailed below a new method for making the eHome driver behave like the replacement driver, this new method is much better than the old one and everyone should switch to it.

    I don't know how I didn't find this earlier...

    Load "regedit.exe" and navigate to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da

Then delete the keys from "CodeSetNum0" to "CodeSetNum3".

i run boxee 0.9.20 on: ubuntu 9.10, windows xp sp3 (virtual machine), windows 7 and a neuros link hacked to all hell.

what super powers does a 'super mod' have? the 'super ban'... that, and laser vision.

I haven't tried this method yet... But EventGhost does request that you use the alternative driver.

I'm going to give this a try on my Dell xps m1530, see if it fixes some of the issues I've been having with it.

I'll report back to see if there is any fix.

How about the standard Media Center remote? I have one of those that came with my HP Pavilion Desktop.

I'm confident that it will work perfectly with a standard MCE 2005 remote
