    Default Hulu buyout

I hope this doesn't affect us all... http://news.cnet.com/8301-31001_3-20...=2547-1_3-0-20

On another note the recent Netflix outage was caused by hackers.

    Thumbs down

I tried HuluPlus for xbox360, sucks. Why would you want to pay to watch commercials. I had it for one day and canceled. Don't care it if ever comes to boxee now.

I am not a Hulu Plus subscriber. I agree that it would be more attractive if there were no commercials, but it's not unusual to pay and still see commercials - it's what you get on every pay-tv channel that's not a premium/movie channel...

    All content is compressed.
Personally I use Hulu+ as one source for content. I also use Netflix, Vudu, Amazon VOD, and Xbox Live. They all have something to offer.
But in general, Hulu+, Netflix and VUDU all compliment each other with little overlap of content. When you add in Amazon VOD there is more overlap and even more when adding XBL into the mix.

HBO wanted to do this in the first place. HBO wanted their service to be a stand alone pay service, but the cable companies had a cow over it and threatened to drop their channels if they did it.

So HBO came up with GO, which requires you to have a subscription thru a pay TV service.

You need to be carefull with what you wish for with HBO. They put themselves up on a pedistal and thus think everything they have should cost a PREMIUM/MORE than similar programming. So if HBO ever does go the route of standalone provider, be prepared to pay more than what you may pay now.
This is why HBO content isn't on Netflix. HBO wanted Netflix to charge more for their content because they thought it was worth more. Netflix said no and thus no HBO on Netflix.

As for Hulu, while I have been using it, the commercials are starting to get lengthier than they used to be and I am close to cancelling because of it.

Ohhh my God!! If you pay for Hulu Plus, you STILL have to watch commercials?!?! No wonder they are selling off to Yahoo!... to abandon ship on a ridiculous idea if you ask me.

Yahoo was the first to attempt to buy it... todays news says it is not a done deal. Rumor is they are just holding out to get more money for it.
