    Default DVD/Blue Ray Movie Cover

    Hi,

I've read most of the threads including 'cover art' to resolve my problem, yet i can't work it out. Most movies get their dvd or blue ray cover when i use the 'identify video' button. Sometimes, however, there is no cover found.
I download it from the internet, put the cover in the main folder of the video, but there is no way to connect the cover to the video. I've read about naming the downloaded cover 'folder.jpg' but that does not work. Any other suggestions?

    Thx.

If the items have already been scanned/identified and then you add folder.jpg files to a movie's folder, you'll need to minimally reset your thumbnail database (Settings>>System>>Advanced):

If that doesn't work, try rescanning that source from scratching by:

    1) removing the File Source (from Settings>>File Sources)
    2) power cycling the box
    3) re-adding the File Source

    Hi Darlicious,

thanks for your help. Tried it all (first step is to clear the thumbnail library, I presume), but it didn't help. The boxee box does find info about the movies without cover (e.g. Essential Killing), but it does not find a cover.
And i cannot connect the cover i downloaded from the internet (and renamed folder.jpg) to the movie.
    Any more suggestions?

    Thx. / Herman - Belgium

I've had a similar problem with the Sex and the City movie. I find this very odd as it's not an obscure movie (story line, acting and plot apart ) so I would've thought the cover would be found easily.

In this the best thing to do is download an NFO file from http://nfo.sprocket.dk/, place it the same folder as the movie file and manually identify the movie so it will pick up the new cover art reference. Navigate to the movie/video file via Files>>Browse>>Network, select the video/movie file, then click on the "identify" icon (top right), and then select NFO.

(You can see what info will be downloaded for the NFO file by clicking on the "details" link first, after searching for your movie title).

    Default More suggestions:-)?

    Hi Darlicious,

Thx for your replies. I have tried everything you suggested, including the link to create nfo's. I get a windows file (using a mac), but i am able to put it in the video folder (top level, I presume).
However, when identifying (files, locations, video), i cannot see/select the nfo file, any jpg file i added to the folder - nothing. I see the folder where the jpg's or nfo files are stored, but when i open the folder, there are three dots (...) and from there i'm directed back to the previous root folder.
Any more ideas? Thx a lot.

You don't really need .nfo files for poster art. Just put folder.jpg inside the same folder that the movie is

    avatar
    -avatar.mkv
    -folder.jpg

I would then delete the source, clear thumbnails, clear database. that will force a reboot. Then re-add the source and scan

Or you can create a new source with just a few folders inside of it to test

Just use Ember. Have it scan the folders and put in the coverart and nfo files. That has worked great for me. I have over 850 titles identified this way now. With very little effort on my part.

Thx for the answer, Brian and Aaron. As for your suggestion, Brian, I tried all that (see post) with no luck. Ember, on the other hand, seems to be a windows program - i'm using a Mac.

Are the files on a HD connected to the BB or hosted on your MAC?
